The pride of Puerto Rico, Bad Bunny, was born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio on March 10, 1994. As a youth, he developed a love of music and would pursue this pastime in his bedroom in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. While working as a bagger at a supermarket, his friends pressured him in getting a SoundCloud account. Relenting, he registered and uploaded a song, “Diles,” a bubblegum Latin trap song, in 2016. In one week, it got a million plays and producers started calling him at work. He ultimately quit his job, took on Noah Asaad as a manager, and became one of the biggest names in the Latin music world. A champion of música urbana, which is an umbrella term for reggaton, trap and rap en español, Bad Bunny has found success with his music. He also has fought for the people of Puerto Rico, demonstrating against what he perceived as its corrupt government in 2019. He is also an outspoken supporter of Puerto Rico’s LGBT community.
