A$AP Rocky — A&AP Rocky is one of the biggest names in hip-hop. Born Rakim Mayers, he adopted the moniker A$AP Rocky due to his membership of the hip-hop collective, A$AP Mob. The term ‘A$AP’ means different things: Always Strive And Propser; Assassinating Snitches and Police; and even Acronym Symbolizing Any Purpose. For Rocky, ASAP has meant bank, as he was estimated to be worth $6 million in 2017. The Harlem, New York native moved to Harrisburg when he was nine-years-old, and it was at that age that he started rapping. He relocated back to New York City when he was a teenager. In 2007, he joined the A$AP Mob crew, which gave him name and seemingly, a direction. He released his single “Purple Swag” in 2011, which became a street anthem in New York City. His leaked song ‘Peso’ earned him radio airplay and built a massive buzz around him. He signed a two-year, $3 million year with RCA Records in 2011. Since then, his career has continued to grow, until he became one of the biggest names in the game.
