Anderson .Paak is one of the most well-respected names in music today. Born Brandon Paak Anderson – his mother was born in South Korea during the Korean war to a Korean woman and a male African American Soldier – Anderson grew up in Ventura, California. He began experimenting with music as a teenager. In the early stages of his career, he worked alongside such major musical influences like Shafiq Husayn of Sa-Ra, rapper Dumbfounddead, and Dr. Dre. He released his debut album ‘Venice’ in 2014, earning him a buzz that resulted in his second album, ‘Malibu,’ earning critical acclaim. He continued his ascent in the music world with 2018’s ‘Oxnard,’ and 2019’s ‘Ventura.’ As of 2021, he’s won four Grammy Awards – Best Rap Performance (“Bubblin’”), Best R&B Album (‘Ventura’), Best R&B Performance (“Come Home (feat. André 3000)’), and Best Melodic Rap Performance (“Lockdown”). In 2021, Anderson teamed with Bruno Mars to announce Silk Sonic, an R&B-funk-influenced project.
