Alanis Morissette, born June 1, 1974, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, is one of the most influential singer-songwriters of her generation. After launching her career as a teen pop artist in Canada, she became a global superstar with the release of 1995’s Jagged Little Pill. The landmark album sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and produced enduring hits including “You Oughta Know,” “Hand in My Pocket,” “You Learn” and “Ironic.”

Over the decades, Alanis has continued to evolve as an artist, releasing multiple studio albums, earning seven Grammy Awards and building a reputation for her raw, deeply personal songwriting. Her impact on music remains significant, with Jagged Little Pill later inspiring a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical based on her songs.
