Al Pacino, born on April 25, 1940, is a true American icon. He’s won an Academy Award, two Tony Awards, and two Primetime Emmy Awards, making him one of the few actors to have accomplished the Triple Crown of Acting.

Al’s passion for acting started at the prestigious HB Studio and Actors Studio. There, the method actor learned from the greats like Charlie Laughton and Lee Strasberg. He’s given some of the most memorable performances in movie history, and his role in Scent of a Woman (1992) won him an Oscar for Best Actor. He’s also earned Academy Award nominations for The Godfather (1972), Serpico (1973), The Godfather Part II (1974, pictured here), and Dog Day Afternoon (1975).

His iconic film career goes far beyond his award-winner. Films like Scarface (1983), Heat (1995), and The Irishman (2019) are all parts of movie history. He’s no stranger to TV either, having earning Emmys for both Angels in America (2003) and You Don’t Know Jack (2010). He’s been keeping to the small screen, starting his run on the Amazon Prime series Hunters in 2020.

Al’s stage career is nothing to snicker at, either! He won Tony Awards for Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie? (1969) and The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel (1977).

It’s no wonder why Al is one of the greatest and most influential actors of the 20th century. For more photos of Al Pacino through the years, check out our gallery here.
