After three years together, Emma Chamberlain and Role Model—whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury—called it quits in October. The YouTuber, 22, recently opened up about what it’s like being single in a new interview at GQ’s “Men of the Year” event on November 16, 2023. The pair mostly kept their relationship private, but here is everything that we know about their split.
When Did Emma Start Dating Role Model?
Emma and Role Model first started dating in 2020. Tucker, 26, revealed that he’d sent the YouTube star a DM in a February 2023 interview with GQ. The singer-songwriter admitted that he had started crushing on her after seeing one of her TikTok videos, but they started texting in March 2020, before meeting in person. The pair revealed that they ate pizza and played Fortnite on their first date, but didn’t kiss.
The pair were very private about their relationship, and they “hard launched” in that profile. “We have a very just unproblematic, safe, private—when we want to be private—relationship,” Tucker told GQ.

As mentioned above, the pair were very private about their romance, but they did gush about one another quite a lot in the interview. “I never thought that you could have someone that you feel like is your best friend and you want to sleep with them,” Role Model said of Emma. “It’s like having a best friend that you can make out with. And I can’t do that with my guys back home, because they won’t let me.”
Emma also starred in the singer’s music video for “neverletyougo,” which he revealed was inspired by her. Emma has also spoken about why she’d keep their relationship private. “There’s parts of our relationship that are going to be private forever, and those things we keep sacred. But I don’t think we need to be secret anymore,” she said.

It was reported that Emma and Tucker had broken up by E! News. An insider close to the situation confirmed their split but didn’t say what the reason was. Following the breakup, Emma did tell the outlet about how being single has been in an interview in November 2023. She said she was “feeling good” as she works through this new phase. “Everything falls into place as it should. I mean, I guess not everything, but a lot of things do, especially in this context. It always does,” she said. “Ultimately, when there’s times where you’re alone, it’s time to invest into yourself. And that’s really exciting, and I think it’s a great opportunity to check back in with you. So, that’s how I’m kind of using this time.”
