Before getting his start as a professional football player, Tavon played various sports in high school. While attending Dunbar High School in his home state of Maryland, the athlete played basketball and ran track. He also played football during his four years.

Tavon Is a Father
In 2020, Tavon announced that he welcomed a baby girl named Ayva with AnaKarla. In early 2024, AnaKarla announced via Instagram that she was expecting twins with Tavon.
He Played for Multiple NFL Teams
Throughout his athletic carer, Tavon played for several teams. After being selected in the first round of the 2013 draft, he played for the St. Louis Rams, which later became the Los Angeles Rams. From 2018 to 2019, he played for the Dallas Cowboys, followed by the San Francisco 49ers and the Green Bay Packers in 2020. In 2021, he played for the Jackson Jaguars, followed by the Buffalo Bills in 2022.
Tavon Retired After 10 Years
On August 13, 2024, Tavon announced his retirement from the NFL. In a lengthy Instagram caption, he pointed out that, “No matter how hard you work or how badly you want something, sometimes God has other plans.”
“I wasn’t sure if I was ready to give up football, and it has been one of the most challenging decisions I’ve ever made,” the athlete began. “But after an incredible 10 years, I’m officially retiring from the NFL. First and foremost, I’d like to thank God for turning my childhood dream into a reality. God has blessed me beyond measure! I want to thank my fans who cheered for me and stood by me through the ups and downs. Without you, I wouldn’t have a career. I’d also like to thank all of the organizations, coaches, and staff that took a chance on me. I’m beyond grateful for the opportunities, and I hope you all knew that I played from the heart and gave my ALL every day, regardless of the circumstances. To my teammates, I made some everlasting memories with you guys, and it was an honor to share the field with you. To my family, I couldn’t have done it without your love and support; you witnessed my physical, mental, and emotional battles on and off the field.”
Elsewhere in his announcement, Tavon noted that the sport “gave [him] more than a career.”
“It gave me some lifelong friendships and molded so much of my character,” he added. “It taught me how vital choices are and how decision-making affects you. Football created in me a mindset of relentless pursuit and hard work ethic! Football didn’t always love me back, but it will always be my first love!”
The now-retired NFL star concluded his caption by insisting that he will “forever cherish” his time in the league.
