Chelsea, who is from Vermillion, South Dakota, first stepped into the MTV spotlight when she was 17 and joined season two of 16 and Pregnant, which aired in 2010. She was pregnant with her first child, Aubree, who she shares with her now ex-boyfriend Adam Lind, and gave birth to the baby girl in Sept. 2009. The series focused on not only her difficult pregnancy, but her tumultuous relationship with Adam, and after Aubree’s birth, viewers saw Chelsea dealing with the dwindling romance as well as Adam’s distance from his daughter.

Chelsea was one of four mothers from the second season of 16 and Pregnant to be chosen to go on to MTV’s follow up series, Teen Mom 2, in 2011. During the beginning of the series, her on-again, off-again relationship with Adam was still showcased, and in 2012, the couple called it quits for good. She went on to obtain her GED after working for it for years and started attending beauty school.

In 2014, Chelsea met her future husband Cole DeBoer. He was first introduced on the premiere episode of the sixth season of Teen Mom 2 and the lovebirds eventually moved in together. The series showed their romance evolve and on Nov. 17, 2015, they became engaged.

Around the same time, Chelsea was also going through a custody battle with Adam over Aubree. Although Adam, who experienced a lot of legal issues since their split, was seeking joint custody of their daughter, the court eventually ruled in Chelsea’s favor and she kept full custody.

In 2016, Chelsea and Cole got married (see photo above) and the birth of their first child together, Watson, in Jan. 2017 was showcased on Teen Mom 2. In Aug. 2018, they went on to welcome their second (and Chelsea’s third) child, Layne.

Chelsea shared the thrilling news that she’s pregnant with her fourth child, a girl, in Aug. 2020. The cute announcement included an Instagram pic, which can be seen above, that showed her and her family’s names, including Cole, Aubree, Watson, and Layne, written on a piece of wood and at the end, “Baby” was added with a heart. “One more DeBoer! Coming early 2021 🖤” her caption for the pic read.

Just two months after the happy news about the upcoming bundle of joy, Chelsea’s dad, Randy Houska, confirmed that she would be leaving Teen Mom 2 for good after season 10. “Well kids that’s a wrap,” he wrote in an Oct. 30th tweet. “Been a fun run. What’s next? Seriously tho, it’s been a part of [Chelsea]’s entire adult life. We all expanded our horizons and grew up as people. #NoRegrets. See y’all on the flip side.”

Chelsea also confirmed her departure in her own Instagram post, which can be seen above, on Nov. 10. “MTV’s Teen Mom 2 has been a big part of my life for almost 11 years. After much thought and discussion with my family and friends, Cole and I have decided that this season will be our last. We are forever thankful to MTV and our crew, who are like family to us. We’re parting on the best of terms and will stay in touch long after this,” she wrote in the post.

“We’re proud to have been able to share our story and are so grateful to the fans who have followed our journey from the beginning.  Our next chapter in life will focus on developing our brand and taking things to the next level with new endeavors and expanding family businesses,” she continued before concluding with excitement for the future.

“Please tune into our last moments on the show and continue to follow along our journey on social media. We are so excited for this next phase of our lives and hope you all will be a part of it in some way!”

Chelsea’s last appearance for Teen Mom 2 will be at the season 10 reunion. What a ride it’s been!
