American Horror Story is back for season 12 and taking things to a whole new level. Ryan Murphy made the epic announcement in April 2023: Kim Kardashian and Emma Roberts would be leading the way in season 12. That was a dynamic duo we didn’t have on our bingo card in 2023. Months later, the first (and very creepy) teaser for American Horror Story: Delicate Part One was released and gave us our first glimpse of Kim, Emma, and Cara Delevingne’s characters.
The official trailer was released on Sept. 6 and gave us major Rosemary’s Baby vibes. Emma’s character is an A-list star with her eye on an Oscar, but she also wants to start a family. Emma gets pregnant, but she soon feels like something is very, very wrong. However, no one is taking her concern seriously. After months of waiting with bated breath, AHS season 12 has arrived.
American Horror Story season 12 has been in the works for a while. The long-running FX hit was renewed through season 13 back in 2020. So, how can you watch American Horror Story season 12? Who is starring in the new season? HollywoodLife has rounded up all the key information you need to know as the new season premieres.
Ryan Murphy confirmed that Kim Kardashian and Emma Roberts had joined the cast with a spooky teaser he posted on his Instagram page. “Emma and Kim are Delicate. This summer. FX and Stream on @hulu,” Ryan captioned the April 10 video. Kim also shared the video on her Instagram page with the eyes emoji and the drop of blood emoji.
The trailer featured music and what appeared to be children playing. Soon, the signature AHS theme song started to play. A creepy voice whispered, “Emma and Kim are delicate.”
Kim will be playing Siobhan Corbyn. The SKIMS founder is known for her reality TV career on Keeping Up With the Kardashians and The Kardashians, but American Horror Story season 12 will be her biggest scripted role to date. She’s made appearances on shows like 2 Broke Girls, Drop Dead Diva, and more in the past.
“Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family,” Ryan told THR in a statement. “Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture. Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish, and ultimately terrifying role, especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done.”
In a behind-the-scenes video released on Sept. 19, Kim opened up about her role in the new season. “This show is so different and scary. Anytime you try something, you just have to have the intention of growing and challenging yourself, and you just kind of release and have fun,” she said.
AHS season 12 will mark Emma’s return to the American Horror Story franchise. Emma is playing Anna Alcott. She became an instant fan favorite when she joined AHS in season 3 as Madison Montgomery. She also starred in seasons 4, 7, 8, and 9. Her last appearance was in AHS: 1984, the show’s ninth season. Ahead of the season 12 premiere, Emma’s 1984 co-star Angelica Ross accused the actress of being transphobic while they were filming season 9.
The Resident star Matt Czuchry is part of the main American Horror Story season 12 cast as well. He plays Dex Harding, Anna’s husband. FOX recently canceled Matt’s medical drama after 6 seasons.
Additional cast members include Cara as Ivy, Annabelle Dexter-Jones as Sonia Shawcross, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez as Nicolette, Maaz Ali as Kamal, and Juliana Canfield as Talia.
Ryan previously told HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY that the door is always open for past cast members to return. “Anybody who’s been on the show always has an open invitation to come back. That’s part of the gig. So sometimes people aren’t available. They go off and do other things. And then sometimes I get calls that say, ‘Oh, I want to come back.’ So I always, around this time of year, pop around and see what people are doing and what they’re interested in,” Ryan said in 2019.
AHS season 12 will be written and showrun by Halley. Ryan will executive produce along with co-creator Brad Falchuk, Alexis Martin Woodall, Scott Robertson, and Halley.
Part One of American Horror Story season 12 will premiere on Sept. 20. The release date was confirmed with the release of two posters featuring Kim and Emma. The posters featured Kim and Emma with a spider’s abdomen as their baby bumps. “Don’t worry. We’ll hold you,” the tagline of Emma’s poster read.

Kim’s poster said, “You’re in our web now.” Kim’s platinum blonde hair, spider-like eye makeup, and red lips made her look very reminiscent of Lady Gaga from AHS: Hotel.

Ryan initially said the show would premiere in summer 2023 on FX (and also be available on Hulu). However, due to the writers’ and SAG-AFTRA strike, AHS season 12’s release date was pushed to the fall. Season 12 started filming in New York City in April 2023. As of July 2023, production has been paused because of the ongoing strikes.
You can watch AHS season 12 if you have access to FX. New episodes will premiere at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX. If you don’t have FX but have Hulu, you can stream the new episodes the next day.
Past themes include Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, Roanoke, Cult, Apocalypse, 1984, Double Feature, and NYC. The American Horror Story season 12 theme is Delicate. The season is based on Danielle Valentine’s upcoming novel Delicate Condition, which was released in August 2023. The novel is described as a “gripping thriller about a woman who becomes convinced that a sinister figure is going to great lengths to make sure her pregnancy never happens.”
