‘The Many Saints Of Newark’ — Photos — ‘The Many Saints of Newark’ is the highly-anticipated prequel to the hit HBO series ‘The Sopranos.’ The film takes place in the late 1960s and 1970s when Tony Soprano is just a young man. Michael Gandolfini, the son of the late James Gandolfini, plays a young Tony Soprano in the film.

The main protagonist of the film is Dickie Moltisanti, who is Tony’s uncle and Christopher’s father. Dickie is played by Alessandro Nivola. Dickie becomes a major mentor figure for Tony Soprano and has a major impression on Tony in his later life. The movie also stars Leslie Odom Jr., Vera Farmiga, Jon Bernthal, Ray Liotta, Billy Magnussen, John Magaro, and more. David Chase, the creator of ‘The Sopranos,’ wrote ‘The Many Saints of Newark’ with Lawrence Konner. The movie was released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max on October 1.
