After Paris Hilton, 42, shared an adorable new photo of her son, Phoenix, 9 months, via Instagram on October 19, many haters were quick to leave negative comments about the child’s appearance. Many of the proud mother’s 24.9 million followers left notes about the baby’s skull and overall look. Two days later, Paris took to the comments section of a TikTok video made by a fan to defend adorable Phoenix and later defended him again with a lengthier message.
“There are some sick people in this world,” The Simple Life alum wrote. “My angel is perfectly healthy. And yes, of course he has been to a doctor, he just has a large brain.” The fan who shared the TikTok clip made the video in defense of Paris and her child and also called out the haters in the caption. “Dude if you’re bullying babies you should be getting your head checked,” the content creator captioned the post.
Paris also shared a message that called the criticism “unacceptable” and revealed it has hurt her. “Living life in the spotlight, comments are inevitable, but targeting my child, or anyone else’s for that matter, is unacceptable,” she began. “This hurts my heart more deeply than words can describe. I’ve worked hard to cultivate an environment that is all about love, respect, and acceptance, and I expect the same in return.”
She went on to add that navigating motherhood in the spotlight has put her under scrutiny. “If I don’t post my baby, people assume I’m not a great mother and if I do post him, there are some people who are cruel and hateful I’m a proud working mom and my baby is perfectly healthy, adorable and angelic,” she wrote before adding that her son has become the “biggest blessing” in her life.
“I’ve dreamt of being a mom for as long as I can remember,” she further explained. “Every day with him is a reminder of what truly matters. It’s hard to fathom that there are people in the world who would target such innocence. I hope that people can treat one another with more kindness and empathy.”
The photo that sparked conversation among Paris’ followers was the series of snapshots she shared on social media a few days prior to the clap back. In the carousel of photos, the 42-year-old cradled Phoenix on her lap in celebration of his first trip to the Big Apple. “My precious angel baby Phoenix’s first time in NYC,” she captioned the post. Despite the hateful comments, many of Paris’ admirers and celeb pals gushed over the nine-month-old.
“Omg!!! So precious!!!” Demi Lovato swooned, while designer Diane von Furstenberg added, “How adorable ! Bravo !” A few others shamed the online haters for their negative comments. “IMAGINE being an adult making fun of an innocent baby! Sad world we live in,” one fan penned, while another chimed in with, “Adults making fun of a Baby… wow shame on you.” Paris welcomed her only child via surrogate with her husband, Carter Reum, 42, in January of 2023.
Aside from the commentary on Phoenix’s appearance, Paris took to Instagram on October 22 to wish her friend, Kim Kardashian, a happy birthday. “Happy Birthday @KimKardashian! So many fun memories together! Look forward to making more Sending you lots of love on your special day! Hope all your birthday wishes and dreams come true! Keep Sliving! Love you,” Paris gushed over the now 43-year-old. In the carousel of photos, the SKIMS founder and Paris posed together in several throwback photos and videos from their years-long friendship.
