Update (10/24/23 12:35 p.m. ET): John Stamos spoke a little more about the split from Teri Copley after claiming she cheated on him with Tony Danza. John said that he was “mad” and that she was the “first time [he] was in love” in an interview on The View on Tuesday, October 24. The Full House star admitted that he was “very naive” at the time. He claimed that he walked in on her with another man.
He played cheeky while discussing the incident, but he said that after the first season of Full House, the show was airing after Who’s The Boss? He said that one of the stars of the sitcom was who he caught his girlfriend in bed with, with The View co-hosts revealing it was Tony Danza. It seems like it’s all water under the bridge now, and John made it sound like they made up. “We were friends after,” he said. “It was a long time ago.”

In If You Would Have Told Me, out October 24, the Full House actor, 60, reportedly recalled how he caught Teri, 62, in bed with Tony, 72, when they were dating in the 1980s. John wrote in his book that the alleged cheating incident was “physically painful” and “worse than anything.”
“I can’t explain it, but I would’ve rather been punched in the nose again or something because the pain is so overwhelming,” he said. “Looking back, it’s like, probably, she wasn’t the right girl for me. So seeing him, realizing it was him and stuff, it was hard. I mean, it was awful.”
John, according to People, claimed that he walked into Teri’s guesthouse to find the access and model asleep in bed next to Tony. “At first I was like, ‘I’m going to kick his…’ I didn’t know it was [Tony] yet,” John recalled. “I see his abs. I’m like, ‘Maybe not. F*** it.’ And I ran. But I remember running down the driveway with tears streaming down my face and I didn’t want anyone to see me.”
John told PEOPLE that it took him “a long time” to get over the incident. “I mean, it wasn’t right to cheat on me, but I was too immature; I wasn’t a man,” he said to the publication. “I didn’t become a man for a long time and I think she was… I don’t know. I was broken.”
However, Teri told PEOPLE that her relationship with John was over before she slept with Tony. “I wondered, ‘What was John doing there?’ because we had broken up,” she explained. “He just looked at me and shook his head, and walked away.”
John explained that he included the alleged cheating incident in his memoir because he wanted people to find the famous actor “relatable.”
“Because I think everybody thinks, like, ‘Oh, this guy’s got no problems. I’m sure he’s never been cheated on,’ ” John said to People. “When people are cheated on, they “make a list. It’s like, ‘Oh, she left me because I don’t have enough money,’ or ‘I’m not good-looking,’ or this and that. And then you look at me and I go, ‘Well, he had all those things.’ People are s*****. And it’s life.”
