UPDATE — 7:45 a.m. ET on March 30, 2021: Ingrid Michaelson took to her Instagram Story to explain what’s really going on with Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid. Spoiler alert: they are not married. “So, I should be asleep, but it’s been a crazy hour, hour and a half,” Ingrid said on her Instagram Story on March 30. “On my Patreon live stream, I said that I’m working with Zayn. I mentioned that he was married, and he’s not married. As far as I know, he’s not married. It was a mistake. I’m so sorry, I said I was sorry. I don’t live in this world. So the level of fame, it makes me really, truly admire Zayn and anybody with that level of fame. Every little thing you say is just, Wow! I’m not built for it.”
She continued: “Just everybody has said really sweet things to me, and I have taken it very much to heart. And thank you. You have helped me to be able to, probably, fall asleep tonight. So that’s all. My apologies to Zayn and Gigi, if any of this trickles to you and is annoying. I’m sorry—that’s not my intention. And to his fans, I’m sorry for getting you all riled up, and much love to you all. And I’m gonna go to sleep now.”
ORIGINAL POST: Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid have allegedly tied the knot, if is his “To Begin Again” duet partner Ingrid Michaelson is to be believed. The 41-year-old singer/songwriter and recent Zayn collaborator claimed in a Mar. 29 Instagram live session that the singer is “such a private person and now he’s married and has a child so, he does the things he wants to do.” The couple welcomed daughter Khai in Sept. 2020, but this is the first time since then that one of their friends as said anything about the two marrying. HollywoodLife.com has reached out to both Zayn and Gigi’s reps for comment, as well as Ingrid for clarification.

The Twittersphere blew up at the news, with “ZAYN IS MARRIED” trending hard. So far neither Zayn or Gigi has spoken out about Ingrid’s claim. She made the announcement when talking about how she and Zayn shot the “To Begin Again” music video separately. “We’ve never met, I’ve never spoken to him. Zayn doesn’t do stuff he doesn’t want to do and the fact that he did this song is very flattering,” she mentioned just before dropping the marriage claim. So there’s a chance Ingrid could just be confused about Zayn and Gigi’s status, as they’re very much a devoted couple and partners.
The pair dropped “To Begin Again” as a surprise duet on Wed. Mar. 16. Zayn lent his gorgeous vocals to the song that the two co-wrote with Sarah Aarons. Zayn appears at 1:23 into the song to take over the second verse, in the tune about renewing and learning to live again after a life threatening, world ending event. Which is very prescient in these times as the COVID-19 pandemic seems to have an end in sight with mass vaccinations helping bring relief and hope to many who feared catching and or dying from the virus.
Zayn and Gigi are such a private couple that they have yet to officially show their daughter Khai’s face to the world, even though she’s already six-months-old. Though the 25-year-old supermodel and her mom Yolanda Hadid have both accidentally uploaded photos to Instagram, only to quickly take them down. Fans have made sure not to screengrab and share them, as to protect Gigi and Zayn’s privacy wishes.
The couple waited four months to even reveal their daughter’s name. On Jan. 21, Gigi changed the bio section of her Instagram page to read “Khai’s mom,” along with how she’s a member of the IMG Models team. It turns out the Maybelline spokesmodel had given fans an Easter egg about the moniker in a Nov. 22, 2020 Instagram post where Gigi shared a photo showing the back of her daughter’s head along with her soft head of hair. Gigi then added a set of photos showing how she decorated for Christmas way early to give her little girl an extra long first holiday season. In one of the shots a present under her tree had “Khai” written on it, but it was so small that none of her fans picked up on it.
