Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have been inseparable this past year while spending most of their time together during quarantine, along with working side-by-side as fellow coaches on The Voice. But despite the countless hours the newly engaged couple has been attached at the hip, a few sources spoke EXCLUSIVELY with HollywoodLife and said that the 44-year-old country singer “can’t wait” to spend the rest of his life with the No Doubt frontwoman.
“Blake loves that he has the kind of relationship with Gwen where they not only thrived in quarantine but worked together, and topped off the year with an engagement,” one pal said of the “God’s Country” crooner and the “Make Me Like You” songstress, who announced their engagement via Instagram on Oct. 27, after five years of dating.
“Blake loves being around Gwen because she has the kind of positive energy about her that’s constantly uplifting him and everyone else around her,” the friend continued. “He can’t wait to spend the rest of his life with her and he knows she wants the wedding to be perfect and for everyone to be involved. Blake does too, but he’s not stressing because he knows they’ve got their entire lives together and they’ll figure it out one way or another. Neither one of them is going anywhere and he feels so blessed he has the perfect woman to share his life with.”
Gwen revealed during a Dec. 7 appearance on On Air With Ryan Seacrest that her one wedding “must have” was having her family present. She explained that her parents wouldn’t attend their Thanksgiving celebration because they were “so scared” about the pandemic and she’s prefer to not have a “COVID situation” where guests were required to wear masks.
Another source close to the A-listers said, “Gwen and Blake are one of those rare couples that can be together 24/7, they just never get tired of each other. So even though they live together and work together they actually also love to spend all their downtime together too. They’ve both been so busy the past month so after the finale they are looking forward to having some time to relax together. When it comes to Christmas, they’re all about making it magical for the kids so that’s going to be a big priority. Just having quality time with them and quality time together.”
“Blake and Gwen love doing The Voice together but also love that since this season is ending they can go back to just being a couple instead of being a couple on TV,” a third insider explained. “They are looking forward to the holidays, to re-energize their personal relationship, and to ending this year on a high note. They’re also looking forward to just relax and not worry about getting married or any of that. They want to just take things steady and easy, and work on music and begin to recharge for the new year ahead. Once the world gets back to normal they will be ready for it because they will be rested and relaxed. That is their main goal in the next few months after The Voice is over.”
News broke of the happy couple’s engagement with an Instagram picture of them standing inside the chapel Blake built for Gwen on his property in Oklahoma. Gwen showed off a huge engagement ring while planting a big smooch on Blake in a snapshot she captioned, “Yes please!”
