New Vanderpump Rules cast member Charli Burnett threw some serious shade at former co-star Jax Taylor, 41, following his “difficult” announcement that he was leaving the show. She took to Twitter on December 5, writing, “I guess I do know my role, and it’s employed.” Her shady comment was a reference to the way the longtime cast member treated her when she joined the Bravo reality series, and a previous tweet in which he said Charli should know her “role”. “Last time [I] checked, 50-year-old men are the only reason that chic can survive in this town,” he wrote in June. “Know your role sweetie. Don’t throw rocks in glass houses.”
Although Jax was an OG cast member, many fans jumped to the defense of Charli. “The introduction of new people saved that show last season. And yes, I have watched since the the first season,” one wrote, while another commented, “Omg this is too good.” It comes one day after Jax revealed on social media that he and wife Brittany Cartwright, 31, would depart the series.
“The last 8 years on Vanderpump Rules have been some of the most challenging, rewarding and fulfilling years of my life,” Jax wrote in a lengthy Instagram caption. “Although this is difficult to share, Brittany and I will not be returning for another season of Vanderpump Rules. We are excited to take this time to focus on our growing family and share with you our new endeavors.”
A source close to production told HollywoodLife exclusively that nobody knew about the couple’s exit prior to Jax’s shock social media announcement. “The cast of Vanderpump Rules found out about Jax and Brittany not returning when the couple made their announcement on Instagram,” the insider explained. “This was Jax’s news to share and he chose to share it publicly very quickly — likely because this way everyone would know at the same time — and hear it straight from him.” The source also told HL that multiple cast members felt it was a “calculated” move. “They really had no idea it was happening and wanted a heads up. They all felt so blindsided.”
