Lil Nas X, 21, was not here for some of the comments underneath a tweet promoting his YouTube collaboration with James Charles. The famous beauty guru gave the “Old Town Road” singer an icy makeup makeover in the video posted on Nov. 17, which @PopCrave teased on Twitter on Nov. 17. However, some fans chose to veer off topic and instead make comments about Lil Nas X’s and James’ sexualities, since both stars are part of the LGBTQ community.

“What are they even doing? bumping holes?,” one such person tweeted, and another wrote, “i just know they fcked after this.” Lil Nas X had enough of it, and jumped into the Twitter thread to clear up hurtful assumptions about gay men.

“2 gay men can do things together without y’all sexualizing it,” Lil Nas X responded to the Twitter chain. The tweet received nearly 5,000 “likes,” and fans rallied behind the Grammy-winning artist with comments like “TELL THEM KING.”

Although James and Lil Nas X are just friends, they couldn’t help but share a laugh over a meme trend that was centered around them. Lil Nas X came out as gay in July of 2019, prompting James to jokingly tag the rapper in a tweet that read, “dms kind.” That led to a flurry of memes about Lil Nas X and James, which they brought up during their new YouTube collaboration.

“I remember when you first came out of the closet too. I remember tweeting you to be like, ‘Oh my god, congratulations!’ And everyone was like he’s not gonna f–k you,” James said, laughing, which Lil Nas X found just as amusing. “I’m dead. Let’s keep that in the video,” Lil Nas X said.

Lil Nas X then asked James if the beauty YouTuber sees “all the memes that still happen” about the two of them, and joked that fans are really going to “pipe up” after seeing they filmed together. “It’s what they want,” Lil Nas X teased.

Lil Nas X also recently made headlines with another YouTube video: his music video for “Holiday,” which is his Christmas-themed bop that dropped on Nov. 13. The meme king transformed into an iced-out Santa Claus for the visuals, and it looks like James took inspiration from the video for Lil Nas X’s beauty look above!
