Zara Larsson just finished her first major North American tour opening for Clean Bandit, who she also teamed up with for the banger “Symphony.” I was lucky to catch her at their NYC show, and can confirm that she has a performance quality that’s reminiscent of an early Britney Spears. “Performing and touring with Clean Bandit in general was a daily highlight,” Zara tells us. “They are amazing musicians and it was great fun to be on the road with and their team.”

Now, Zara will return to her native Sweden for a few shows, then will be back in the U.S. and Canada for “loads of festivals” (including Lollapalooza, Osheaga and Bumbershoot.)  Sound exhausting? The “Lush Life” singer doesn’t think so, and she has plans to take it a step further. “I’m doing more shows this summer. After that, a headline tour for sure!” Zara says. So exciting!

5 Quick Qs with Zara Larsson

1. What’s the weirdest or most unique venue you’ve ever played?

A boxing ring in New York for a VFILES performance.

2. Where’s the craziest place you’ve heard one of your songs playing?

This is a tricky one. I would have to go with the dentist.

3. Who is still on the wishlist to collaborate with?

I would love to collaborate with Nicki Minaj or Kehlani.

4. Who is the most unlikely celebrity fan you’ve encountered?

Idris Elba. He came up to me at the MTV EMAs and said ‘Hi,’ and that he liked my music!

5. Are you best friends with Tove Lo and Icona Pop? (Please say yes.)

We’re not best friends, but we are definitely friends! Sweden is quite small, so I’m always super happy when I bump into them.
