Luna Vargas speaks to the nation as the vice president-elect. Mellie is a proud POTUS. She finally got a big win amidst all this chaos. Unfortunately, this moment is brief. Her life gets a whole lot worse real quick. Nine suspicious drones are hovering over major cities. All fingers point to Peus.

He calls Olivia and just wants one simple thing: Mellie. If he doesn’t get her back, he will keep on detonating the drones. Yep, he’s the one in control. Olivia thinks he’s just bluffing. But then he detonates one in Dallas without even blinking.
Olivia is sitting with her father watching the news reports on the explosion. Rowan wants to have one last drink with her. He truly believes it’s over. Olivia is not ready to give up. She hasn’t made her mark yet. She wants him to help her and the rest of her friends, but he’s not ready to put his pride aside. He warns that she will die if she doesn’t leave town, like, now.
Fitz is desperate for answers. Over two dozen people are now dead. Everyone is on edge trying to find Peus. Jake goes to see the mystery woman in the bunker, whose name is Samantha. We finally have a name! This woman is a freaking ghost. There’s practically zero information about her. Jake offers her a pretty sweet deal if she cooperates, but she’s scared of her employer. Who the heck is it? She knows that, even if she disappear, her employer will find her and kill her. Jake doesn’t have time for her games. He slams her head down on the table, cuts her neck open, and takes out a chip. Savage.
What’s In The Box?
He brings it straight to Huck, and he gets to work. But his investigating triggers a kill switch. Once Peus catches wind of this, he detonates a drone in Philly. Fitz is starting to lose it. He wants Rowan’s help. He knows Rowan has answers that they don’t. Fitz pays Rowan a little visit with Olivia, and it doesn’t go well. They act like children and nearly come to blows. Rowan goes off in another intense speech about the republic being in ashes. All he wants is to save himself. No word about Olivia. Awkward.
Cyrus finds himself back by Fitz’s side again, while Abby’s feeling left out. This is karma for Huck. Sorry not sorry. David informs Olivia that Rowan got packages from Peus’ organization multiple times. Hmm… Huck and Olivia go back through old security footage and watch Rowan receive the boxes. Every single time he gets one, he’s terrified. Cue the #WhatsInTheBox hashtag.
Jake goes in to see Samantha again and says Peus has been captured. He offers her immunity in exchange for the drone commander center location. Jake plays her good so she opens up. She’s willing to offers names and bank accounts if she gets Peus’ deal. Things go awry when David comes in to visit Samantha. She says her name is Grace, but she’s probably lying. She tells David that she wants to start over with him. Like, give their relationship another chance. “I hate you,” David spits her. Samantha soon realizes that David’s been lying about Peus. He tries to be convincing, but it’s written all over his face. Before he leaves, he hits her. OMG!
Nasty Women
Fitz tries to get through to Rowan one last time. “You have taken so much from me, and still I admire you,” he says. Rowan doesn’t understand Fitz and why Olivia loves him. “No one has ever broken you,” Rowan says. Now that’s not exactly true, Rowan. You did. Rowan admits that he if stopped cooperating with Peus, he would kill Olivia and put her head in that box. That’s why Rowan was so afraid every time he got a package. Fitz knows that Rowan won’t help him, but he will help Olivia. Olivia is Rowan’s Achilles heel.
Rowan eventually does come to Fitz’s aid. He goes to see Samantha and pulls a gun on her. He’s willing to release her if she can guarantee his freedom. He walks away with Samantha, leaving Olivia locked in the bunker. For Olivia, all hope seems lost. Mellie’s ready to give herself over to Peus. That makes Olivia’s blood boil. The men in this town want to take everything away from women like Mellie. They want Mellie to fall in line. But this is her White House and Olivia’s. They’re not leaving without a fight.
Rowan meets with Peus and Samantha. He gets a guarantee on his freedom. This whole charade of betraying Olivia and the team was all a part of his plan with Fitz! Rowan had to gain Samantha’s trust to get to Peus. Rowan gives Jake the opportunity to find Peus — who is not working alone —and shoot him in the head. As for Samantha, Rowan takes the last tooth needed to complete his dinosaur and kills her with it. Yasssss.
