This is so sad! Danny DeVito, 72, and Rhea Perlman, 68, started dating in 1971, and got married in 1982. Danny, now the star of It’s Always Sunny Sunny in Philadelphia, told CBS Sunday Morning in a March 26 interview that 46 years after getting together, and 35 years of marriage, their relationship is over. This isn’t the first time Danny and Rhea have separated (they briefly split in 2012), but their break up in 2017 is permanent.
“We’re not getting a divorce, but we separated, yeah,” Danny said. That doesn’t mean that things are necessarily bad, though. Danny and Rhea are still incredibly close, and have no bad feelings to each other. She even came to the premiere of his Broadway play “The Price”. “We’re really close. Well, we’ve been friends for 40-something years. We love each other,” he said.

Banny and Rhea met when she went to see her friend in the play “The Shrinking Bride”, which also featured Danny. They started dating and moved in together two weeks later! The former couple have three adult children together: actress Lucy DeVito, 34, Grace DeVito, 32, and Daniel DeVito, 30.
Danny and Rhea acted together many times, including on Taxi in the 1970s, the show that made Danny a star. Rhea played Zena, the girlfriend to Danny’s character Louie! Their most memorable role together was likely the 1996 movie Matilda, in which they played Matilda’s horrible parents, the Wormwoods! Danny also directed, and produced that movie, by the way.
Rhea, who has four Emmys for her role on Cheers, is currently on The Mindy Project as Danny Castellano’s mother. Danny has played the gross, hilarious Frank Reynolds on It’s Always Sunny for the good part of a decade.
