Something truly special occurred at REWind Con on Saturday, November 12, in Chicago, Illinois. A vast majority of the original Beverly Hills 90210 cast were reunited not only on the convention floor, but also for an hour-long panel where they talked all about their many years on the series. In attendance were Jason Priestley, Luke Perry, Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth, Gabrielle Carteris, Vincent Young, Christine Elise and James Eckhouse. Plus, News Editor Lauren Cox and Senior Entertainment Editor Emily Longeretta from HollywoodLife.com were the moderators!
Sadly some cast members were missing — Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green and of course Shannen Doherty — but they were definitely there in spirit. Luke kicked off the panel letting the audience know how important they were despite their absence, especially Shannen who both he and the cast had nothing but love for as she currently battles cancer for the second time. Luke even shared that despite all of the drama they had over the years with Shannen, she was the very heart of the show and the reason for it’s success. So sweet!
Some exciting moments from the panels were Gabrielle admitting that non-couple Andrea and Brandon were her favorite couple, despite the fact they never went official. As for Jennie’s favorite? When asked how long it had been since they were all in the same room together, the cast agreed that it had been at least over 20 years. “In a way, as cool as this is for you guys, it is for us too. Because it’s like family, friends and seeing them all again. Obviously we’ve all been friends over the years but seeing them all in the same room? This is a first for us,” Tori shared excitedly, obviously very grateful to be surrounded by the cast she grew up with.
However when it came to the cast sharing where they believe their characters are now, many cast members teased what would definitely be an incredibly epic reunion. “I don’t know, it’s something I’ve given thought about a couple of times… wonder what would happen if we were to crack it open again,” Luke told the audience who cheered excitedly. He even shared that he once talked to Tori’s dad, Executive Producer Aaron Spelling, about what it would be like to re-visit the show 10 years after it ended. So is a reunion in the works? Not quite. Jason later added that an “official” conversation has not actually happened. Maybe this will help spark that conversation, yeah? Fingers crossed!
