We were so excited when we found out The Weeknd, 26, was going to be the musical guest on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live, because we knew he would put on a fantastic show. We were also so hoping he would break out his new song, “Starboy.” And lucky for us, that’s exactly what happened! The Canadian singer came out totally pumped and ready to take us away with his amazing lyrics to the single that just dropped last week along with his song “False Alarm.”

This was The Weeknd’s second round as SNL’s musical guest and fourth time singing on the show. And the lights and smoke that accompanied him were nice and all that, but honestly, The Weeknd holds his own without any special effects. All he needed were his killer pipes and that attitude we all love. It also helped he wore a stylin bomber jacket covered in an intricate pattern, denim jeans, topping it all off with a cross on a long chain. “I’m tryna put you in the worst mood, ah/P1 cleaner than your church shoes, ah/Milli point 2 just to hurt you, ah/All red lamb just to tease you, ah/None of these toys on lease too, ah/Made your whole year in a week too, yah/Main b***h out of your league too, ah/Side b***h out of your league too, ah,” The Weeknd sang. He later came out and performed “False Alarm,” and, obviously, totally killed that stroblight-filled performance.

SNL Moments — PICS

We absolutely loved this taste of The Weekend’s new album and can’t wait for it to drop soon! He was definitely a great choice for the first musical guest of the season. But, honestly, can we just say one more time how much we miss his hair! I mean, the new do is nice. But, still.
