Kevin Bacon Wants To Play Freddy Krueger In ‘Nightmare On Elm Street’ Remake

The 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' franchise includes NINE movies -- but could the tenth be the one with Kevin Bacon? Well it's not impossible -- and it sounds like the actor would love to be involved. We know the world is all about its remakes right now, so this may just be the next one.

The hype all began with a single fan Tweet, which was spotted by Kevin Bacon, 58, and he responded. You can see that exchange below.

Now of course the original 1984 Nightmare on Elm Street, created by Wes Craven, starred Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger — a role that has been impossible to duplicate. The original franchise included five films, and the first was remade by Samuel Bayer in 2010 with Jackie Earle Haley in the lead role. Needless to say it didn’t work.

“You don’t ever see any of the people happy go-lucky, they’re never untainted,” Robert said during an appearance at the Film & Comic Con in Belfast, Ireland. “You need to see before and after so you can invest emotionally with the children. They’re practically zombies from the get-go because they’re haunted by Freddy and I think that was a miscalculation.”

He also added that he’d love to rejoin a remake of the film. “I would certainly like to be invited to do a cameo, to maybe play the cantankerous old professor or the group therapy guy that doesn’t believe they’re having nightmares. I think it would be fun for the audience.”

However, with so many remakes being done over the past five years, it wouldn’t be surprising if this was coming up soon. And Kevin knows how to act in horror productions. While he recently finished his disturbing thriller Fox show, The Following, he’s previously starred in films like Hollow ManMystic River and Murder in the First.
