Kobe Bryant Says, ‘I Am Not Done Yet,’ As He Recieves Icon Award At 2016 ESPYs

Former Los Angeles Laker, Kobe Bryant, 37, gave a meaningful and stirring speech after being honored with the Icon Award on July 13th at the 2016 ESPY Award show. After one of the greatest careers in the history of the NBA, Kobe has retired as a professional basketball player. ā€œThank you, itā€™s amazing to be standing here alongside Abby and Peytonā€¦ We grew up in our sports together,ā€ Kobe shared in his speech. ā€œWe are up here cause of our dreams. We were never satisfied and will never be finished. Thank you for this honor but I am not done yet,ā€  Kobe said to the many superstar athletes in the crowd at The ESPYā€™s in Los Angeles on July 13th and to the millions of fans watching across the world implying that we have much more to enjoy from the star. Kobe was eloquent, thoughtful and humble as he finished by thanking his wife and family.

Kobe was given the award by singer, actor and all-around amazing guy, Justin Timberlake. Jessica Bielā€˜s husband also gave out Icon Awards to two other amazing athleteā€™s hanging up their jerseyā€™s for good. In addition to the former Laker, Olympic gold-medalist and professional soccer player Abby Wambach received the Icon Award as did Denver Broncosā€™ Super Bowl-winning quarterback Peyton Manning who both stood beside Kobe in receiving their awards. Wow, that is good company.

Kobe is arguably the best to athlete to ever play basketball. A quick look at his career stats will explain why he was chosen for this prestigious award. Kobe is a 5-time NBA Champion, 2-time NBA Finals MVP, NBA League MVP, he was in the All-Star game a whopping 18-times and 4 of those times he was the MVP. WOW, the dude breathes excellence.
