Yes, Jon Snow is the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. Now, Rhaegar wasn’t specifically named as the father of Jon Snow, but it’s implied. For those of you who’ve read the books, she was supposedly abducted by Rhaegar Targaryen, but some believe they eloped. Her death eventually led to Robert’s Rebellion.

In the season finale, Bran flashed back to the Tower of Joy where young Ned comes across his dying sister. Lyanna whispers something no one could quite hear in his ear. “Promise me, Ned,” she pleaded with him. Ned, being the noble man he always was, vowed to keep her promise.
We can all assume she was talking about the origin of her newborn baby, who grew up to be Jon Snow. Lyanna knew that if anyone found out about her child — a true Targaryen and Stark — he would be killed. So Ned took him in as his own, even if it meant Jon had to be raised as Ned’s bastard. Back in season one, Ned promised to tell Jon Snow about his mother one day, and Lyanna was who he was talking about.
After six seasons of waiting, Game of Thrones pulled off its biggest twist ever. It didn’t feel forced. The scene felt so right. And with the other events in the finale, it’s all going to culminate in season 7. Who else is ready?!
