“They’ve got an insane connection,” a source for OK! magazine revealed. “It’s time for them to act on the passion that was sparked all those years ago.” And by years we mean 16! But after all this time, things finally clicked for Ben and Charlize at February’s Vanity Fair Oscars party. Ben was, after all, a single man once again after calling it quits with his wife of 10 years, Jennifer Garner, 43, back in June. And Charlize too was completely single — she had split from Sean Penn, 55, around that same time. Some would call it fate!
“They could finally flirt freely, and it was electric,” the source gushed. However, the couple were forced to keep their interaction low-key as Jennifer was also at the party. “Jennifer was there, so Ben and Charlize limited themselves to a relatively quick conversation before going their separate ways.” But now that the cat’s out of the bag, the source says that friends of the megastars are speculating about when and how a relationship will develop. Apparently it’s only a matter of time!
“One thing’s for certain,” the source said. “You won’t see them on dates at high-profile restaurants. It’ll be their little secret for as long as possible.” And keeping things quiet might just be their best strategy because after all, many people’s feelings are involved — including Charlize’s and Ben’s children. But regardless of their rough romantic pasts, the actors do seem like they’d make a great couple. We’d love to see them finally find lasting love!
Ben and Charlize first bonded while shooting the 2000 thriller called Reindeer Games, and apparently, the two felt connected right off the bat. “There was crazy chemistry between them” the source claimed. And honestly, it’s not hard to see! Just watch the flick and see for yourselves.
Their love scenes from Reindeer Games alone were enough to spark intense rumors that the pair were hot and heavy IRL too. But alas, both were involved in serious relationships, and at that point in time, the two remained strictly professional. “He was still with Gwyneth Paltrow,” the insider explained. “He was faithful, even though it was kind of an on-off thing by then.” Meanwhile, Charlize was involved with Stephan Jenkins, the Third Eye Blind frontman.
However, over the years, Ben and Charlize have “run into each other at various Hollywood events,” the source continued. For example, the pair were even caught embracing at the 2010 Spike Guys’ Choice Awards and were also seen together at that year’s American Cinematheque Awards. You could even say that perhaps they’re the ones who got away from one another.
