Let’s go back to where it all began — Titanic. That’s where the famous dynamic duo met. Their characters — the iconic Jack and Rose — fell in love and remain one of the best onscreen couples of all time. Their time together filming Titanic sparked a friendship that’s lasted over 20 years.
The pair attended the 1998 Golden Globes together, and they were pretty much the most adorable thing ever. They were so young! While most of us were shipping Kleo as a couple, Kate and Leo attended the awards show as just friends. Kate and Leo fueled some serious fanfiction when Leo said this to Kate on the SAG Awards red carpet in 2005: “I love you, sweetheart.”
Kate and Leo reunited onscreen to play a married couple in Revolutionary Road in 2008. Their performances were incredible, and this movie provided even more epic awards show moments. At the Golden Globes, Kleo sat next to each other. She won for both The Reader and Revolutionary Road, and she thanked her beloved Leo during one of her acceptance speeches.
“Leo, I’m so happy I can stand here and tell you how much I love you and how much I’ve loved you for 13 years… I love you with all my heart, I really do,” she tearfully said. The camera then panned to Leo, who was blowing a kiss to Kate. Swoon.
Over the next few years, Kate and Leo remained close. Leo gave Kate away at her 2012 wedding to Ned Rocknroll. It wasn’t until 2016 that we got a new dose of Kate and Leo. They shared an epic hug at the 2016 Golden Globes during the ceremony. It was so adorable. The two met back up at the SAG Awards, and it was magical. Leo sweetly kissed Kate after he won for The Revenant. We can’t wait to see these two at the Oscars.
