His first single, “Pillowtalk,” may have reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, but apparently even that isn’t enough to quell Zayn’s nerves ahead of his big solo performance debut. “This is his moment. All eye are on him and he is really anxious to pull it off,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “This is easily his biggest performance ever and he is very eager, but also very, very nervous to see what people think about it when it is completed. He’s trying to stay calm but currently, he’s a little on edge.”
As nerve-raking as a big TV performance can be, Zayn really shouldn’t worry too much about his Tonight Show gig considering what a huge success his “Pillowtalk” debut was. In the first week alone, the song’s accompanying music video — you know, the super sexy one starring his real-life girlfriend Gigi Hadid — reached over 40 million views and counting, while the song itself earned rave reviews from critics and fans alike. In other words, don’t worry Zayn — you’re going to be just fine.

In addition to his live performance debut, fans are also gearing up for the release of Zayn’s debut solo album, Mind of Mine, which is not so coincidentally being released on a very important One Direction anniversary. As previously reported, Zayn has chosen March 25, 2016 — otherwise known as the one year anniversary of the day he quit the boy band— as the day of his album’s release, and while it might seem like a coincidence, we assure you it’s not.
“Zayn is the master of marketing, he was well aware of the date and wanted to make a statement,” a source previously told HollywoodLife.com.
“By releasing his album the same date he quit 1D, he’s trying to show the world that chapter in his life is now closed and this is a new Zayn,” the source continued. “He had always planned on doing that, so it was no coincidence that the date of his album release is the same as the date he decided he didn’t want to be in 1D.”
While we may never officially get over his departure from 1D, we are beyond excited to see what this new chapter in his career brings — starting first with his Tonight Show performance!
