Aww, Niall! If the One Direction cutie had his way, we’d probably be shipping him and Selena even more than we were when they were first rumored to be dating. We’re glad to hear that Niall is cool with the idea of keeping things platonic, but it’s never easy to face rejection from someone you’re so smitten with!

Then again, Selena has made it pretty clear in the last month that she’s not particularly interested in anything romantic with Niall. First and foremost, another insider told us that Sel was refusing to commit to anything beyond friendship with Niall. Then right after the holidays, Selena was spotted getting awfully cozy with Samuel Krost, whom she was romantically linked to just before hooking up with Niall — so he can’t really say he didn’t see the rejection coming!
And besides, it’s not like Selena wants to totally cut Niall off. In fact, that’s the last thing she’d want! Selena’s biggest concern with dating Niall is that it would ruin their friendship, and judging by the way Niall feels, we’re sure that’s the last thing he would want to happen!
As much as we would love to see Niall and Selena together romantically, at least we can still count on them hanging out as friends. But if Niall’s feelings don’t fade, you never know…Selena could change her mind at some point. After all, how could you deny such a cute Irish boy?!
