When the “TGIT” trailer dropped on Jan. 8, we knew Meredith would be in trouble. But it didn’t prepare us for just how bad it was going to be when the midseason premiere promo came our way. Before, we thought Mer might have been shot. Now, we know that she’s violently attacked by a large male patient. We see her doing her work when the patient stands up behind her. When she gently asks him to lay down, they grapple before he snaps and throws her against a glass case that shatters, and leaves her unconscious on the floor.
The next 15 seconds are a confusing jumble of emotions. Penny, is the first to call for help. Then Alex comes rushing to her side. He cradles her frantically while everyone tries to figure out what’s wrong and help her. Then he gives her the most passionate kiss on the head. This has to mean he has feelings, way more than just best friends, right?! But he also just proposed to Jo! If Meredith survives this harrowing event (which, she HAS to!) will she survive the ensuing love triangle that might be forming?
