Carrie Fisher Warns ‘Star Wars’ Newbie Daisy Ridley: ‘Don’t Be A Slave Like I Was’

Whatever you do, don't wear the gold bikini! That's what Carrie Fisher, the original Princess Leia, told Daisy Ridley, the 23-year-old who is joining the 'Star Wars' franchise this year -- and if you listen to anyone's advice, she'd be the one to listen to. Talk about passing the torch. Carrie Fisher is known the most for her iconic role in Star Wars and her most famous outfit is the revealing gold bikini and chain that she dawned in Return of the Jedi after being captured. This time around, she wants to make sure the lead female is not a slave like she was. Hey her words, not mine.

“They always talk about how you’re a sex symbol, and how do I feel about that,” Daisy Ridley, the newcomer to the franchise told Carrie when she was interviewed for Interview magazine. Carrie responded with, “I am not a sex symbol, so that’s an opinion of someone. I don’t share that. Well, you should fight for your outfit. Don’t be a slave like I was.”

Daisy replied with “all right, I’ll fight,” and Carrie didn’t stop there. “You keep fighting against that slave outfit.”

Daisy, 23, isn’t a huge star yet and will portray the role of Rey, in the new film coming out at Christmas. We know that Daisy is extremely excited. When the trailer came out on Oct. 19, she literally started crying — and it was all captured on camera. “Staying in a little b’n’b with my friend… Set an alarm to watch the trailer… My friend filmed my reaction. Totally emotional seeing it for the first time and so so so incredibly awed to be part of this incredible legacy #starwars#theforceawakens,” she wrote on her Instagram video.

Well, do you think Carrie’s advice was good? Or was the gold bikini empowering? Let us know!
