One Direction Producer Disses Zayn Malik: Last Album Was ‘Most Fun’ To Make

Is that shade we detect? While the One Direction guys were busy clearing up those shocking breakup rumors, their longtime producer Julian Bunetta was busy ever-so-subtly dissing ex bandmate Zayn Malik. Perhaps there's some bad blood here after all! It's been five long months since Zayn Malik, 22, decided to leave One Direction behind  to "be a normal 22-year-old." But while Directioners may still be mourning the loss of the British heartthrob, the band's longtime producer/songwriter, Julian Bunetta, has made it clear that the group is doing just fine without him, claiming that their first album without him was also "one of the most fun" to make. The producer recently dished on the band’s rumored breakup in an interview with Billboard on Aug. 25, in which he may or may not have dissed the ex One Directioner while talking about the group’s latest album — a.k.a their first one without Zayn. “We were having so much fun when we were making this record — going out, having parties, really enjoying ourselves and not taking any day for granted that we got to spend with each other,” said Julian. “When you’re faced with some uncertainty, you appreciate the moment more.” The moment that you’re in becomes really special and sacred. It was definitely one of the most fun album-making processes I’ve had because of that.”

Wow. That hardly sounds like the all-out tear fest we experienced during these last few months without Zayn! Still, that doesn’t mean he wasn’t on the band’s mind as they set off to record their as yet untilted follow up to 2014’s Four. According to the Billboard report, the new album will touch upon some of the drama that has affected the group’s members over the past year — including the departure of Zayn. “There’s a song about losing someone that isn’t Zayn,” explained Julian. “There’s also a song about the band being on shaky ground and not knowing what the future is. There are songs about love, there’s a song that is a little more sexually charged. It’s all over the map.” Consider us excited!

As for those breakup rumors, Harry Styles, 21, Louis Tomlinson, 23, Liam Payne, 21, and Niall Horan, 21, officially confirmed on Aug. 25 that while they don’t intend to split up for good, they will be taking a much-needed break of “at least a year” to pursue other opportunities. “It is not over, they just need a break. They have been non stop and don’t want to breakdown,” a source close to the group tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “They need some normalcy for the time being.” One Direction’s last concert together before their reported break will be in Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, England on Oct. 31. They made their first appearance since the news at their Chicago concert on Aug. 23.
