‘The Vampire Diaries’ Casts First Same-Sex Couple In Season 7

The women are taking over Mystic Falls. Three new characters have joined The CW's 'The Vampire Diaries,' including the first ever same-sex couple, and we couldn't be more excited. Move over Damon and Stefan Salvatore, we're about to ship a whole new pair. Julie Plec teased that "nasty, nasty girls" were coming to season seven of The Vampire Diaries, and she wasn't kidding. Couple Nora and Mary Louise, as well as Valerie, will all join the cast beginning in the season  premiere and let's just say -- they're powerhouses. And now, they've been cast.

Scarlett Byrne and Teressa Liane have joined as heretics Nora and Mary Louise, our sister site Variety reports. Nora has a sense of humor, potent magic and is described as a tomboy who loves creating mayhem. Heretic May Louise is more of a girly girl but will stand by her views. Naturally, they’re protective of each other, so don’t cross them! You hear that, Enzo (Michael Malarkey)?

However, there is one more heretic joining — Valerie, who will be played by Elizabeth Blackmore, and while she’s part of Lily’s gang of non-humans, she’s faced struggles in the past personally, which may cause some sort of tiff between she and Mama Lily. However, we’re beyond thrilled for fresh blood!

It’s definitely the year for women this season! Bonnie (Kat Graham) may also get a new love interest, and if it’s up to her, it may just be a lady! “Bonnie is going to have her own love interest this year — and it’s not going to be Damon,” Caroline Dries told our partner site, TVLine. Kat added, “I’ve pitched female witches. I’ve pitched Bonnie having some discoveries, sexually, about herself. I’ve pitched everything. We’ll see what happened.”

Well, we’d be down for any of the above. TVD returns to The CW on October 8.
