Justin, who earned a bad-boy rap for a series of bust-ups with the law, has sympathy for Ariana after she was caught on camera tampering with a number of donuts on display at Wolfee’s Donuts in Lake Elsinore, California. Worse still, it was her mistimed comments about hating America that irked the most. So, Justin called Ariana up for a chat to tell her it’s all part of growing up and eased her mind.

“Justin reached out to Ariana because he heard she was very down over the whole donut-licking scandal,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.  “He empathized with her, telling her he’s made his own mistakes in life, and you can only grow from those experiences. Justin reasoned that, even if at the moment everyone seems to be against her, her true fans will always be there. She will just have to prove herself to everyone else.”

What a mature response from Justin, who made Ariana’s day, according to the source.”Ariana was pleased that Justin made an effort to call her, and his words of advice cheered her up no end,” the insider added.

Frankie Grande Defends Ariana After Donut-Licking

As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Ariana’s brother Frankie Grande, 32, also jumped to the defense of his younger sister, believing she’s being “judged very harshly.”

“U made a mistake & r being JUDGED very HARSHLY for it but ur doing the right thing in the face of it & I’m so proud,” the YouTube sensation wrote on his Twitter on July 9. He also tweeted, “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her. #WeForgiveYouAriana.”

Ariana has already attempted two apologies for her “I hate America” remark, the first she was accused of being insincere, so she took to video to record another confessional. Unfortunately, the reactions from that clip weren’t much better.

What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Should Ariana be forgiven now?
