Ariana Grande’s Apology For Fat-Shaming Comments In Donut Shop – Hollywood Life

Ariana Grande Apologizes For ‘I Hate America’ Comments In Donut Shop

Yes, Ariana Grande did say 'I hate Americans,' suggesting its citizens are obsessed with fattening foods like donuts, but she's just released a statement apologizing for the whole thing! Ariana Grande, 22, was overheard saying "What the f--k is that? I hate Americans. I hate America" while looking at donuts at Wolfee Donuts in Lake Elsinore, CA on July 4 and fans interpreted the comments as fat-shaming. Ariana feels very guilty about the things she said and on July 8, she released a long statement explaining how her words were "taken out of context" and how sometimes she gets "upset by how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences." Ariana reps sent her apology statement to HollywoodLife and it reads:

“I am EXTREMELY proud to be an American and I’ve always made it clear that I love my country. What I said in a private moment with my friend, who was buying the donuts, was taken out of context and I am sorry for not using more discretion with my choice of words. As an advocate for healthy eating, food is very important to me and I sometimes get upset by how freely we as Americans eat and consume things without giving any thought to the consequences that it has on our health and society as a whole. The fact that the United States has the highest child obesity rate in the world frustrates me. We need to do more to educate ourselves and our children about the dangers of overeating and the poison we put in our bodies. We need to demand more from our food industry. However I should have known better in how I expressed myself; and with my new responsibility to others as a public figure I will strive to be better. As for why I cannot be at the MLB show, I have had emergency oral surgery and due to recover I cannot attend the show. I hope to make it up to all those fans soon. That being said let me once again apologize if I have offended anyone with my poor choice of words.”

In case you missed it, Ariana was caught on a donut shop surveillance camera making the offensive comments. It was when an employee brought out a tray of huge doughnuts that Ariana said, “What the f–k is that? I hate Americans. I hate America.”

The surveillance footage also caught Ariana and her new man, Ricky Alvarez “licking and spitting” on three doughnuts before putting them back on the counter, before buying a bunch of donuts for themselves! “Yes, I’m upset,” Wolfee Donuts owner Joe Marin told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “We sold those by accident to other people and didn’t catch it until hours later.” To hear more about the Ariana Grande doughnut scandal, head over to iTunes and download the HollywoodLife podcast for free!
