Nicki clearly couldn’t contain her excitement, taking to Instagram to share a closeup of her left hand…hey, you don’t break out the ring emoji unless it is official! Along with her new rock, she showed off an amazing manicure. I’m sure some traditional gals out there might not approve, but did you actually expect Nicki to slick on a coat of Ballet Slippers before breaking the news? Didn’t think so.
After taking one look at Nicki’s ring it was clear that she was rocking quite the bling — and expert jeweler Shari Fabrikant of Robert Fabrikant Inc. in NYC told us the ring cost Meek a pretty penny. “Nicki’s ring is outrageous! It is approximately 8-10 carat Heart Shape Fancy Yellow Diamond. The very unique stone is set in white in a double row micro pave diamond setting, which is the hottest ring right now. The lemon yellow diamond is just gorgeous!! The ring must have set her fiancé back quite a bit. It should retail for nearly $500,000 if it is a Fancy Yellow, very slightly imperfect 10 ct. diamond. Clearly, heart shape diamonds are the trend, as Lady Gaga is also wearing a fabulous heart shaped stone. This ring is a real eye catcher!”
Nicki and Meek have been friends for years, and after taking one glance at her ring it is clear that he is definitely in tune with her taste — and it really suits her, especially since the pair collaborated on “Buy A Heart,” a telling track on Nicki’s latest album, The Pinkprint.
The heart-shaped ring is definitely a new trend! Mark Keeney, VP of Marketing for Ritani, agreed. “Along the same lines as Lady Gaga’s recent announcement Ms. Minaj looks to have a yellow heart shaped center stone within the 5-6 carat range surrounded by a double halo of inset diamonds (appears to be another 70-80 individual diamonds.) The double halo is rising in popularity – more commonly with traditional cut stones but overall I would value this ring in the $400-500k range.”
