‘Once Upon A Time’ Recap: On The Run
Emma was on the hunt for the Author after he stealthily escaped. Ultimately, this whole search was a way to distract Emma from her anger towards her parents. Their bombshell about Maleficent’s child had rocked her world, and not for the better. With their decision, they had mapped out Emma’s life before she even got to live it. Ugh, the worst.
But Emma was wasting time by continuing that conversation. They could pick it up later. Emma had to find the Author before Rumple did. Welp. Too late. Rumple found him. Rumple had the quill, which meant he had the power. He wanted the Author to change his fate or else. As expected, the Author went with Rumple.
Regina was now Rumple’s prisoner. He kept her complacent with news of Robin Hood. Buckle up, because things are about to get straight up CRAZY!
‘Once Upon A Time’ Recap: ZELENA. IS. BACK.
Flashback to nine weeks ago, when Marian and Robin Hood crossed over the town line. They were setting up shop at Neal’s apartment, but Rumple’s surprise appearance shocked them all. During their tense discussion, Rumple collapsed due to a heart attack.
Robin rushed him to this hospital, but Rumple was still dishing out demands. He needed a special elixir that would fix his heart. Robin set out on a quest to find it, and he did with ease. However, when Rumple drank it, the potion didn’t work. That’s because it wasn’t the potion. Marian had switch them! Oh, wait. That wasn’t Marian — IT WAS ZELENA.
Prepare to have your mind blown. Zelena had orchestrated everything dealing with Marian. Yep, that’s right. She was the one who had arranged Emma to bring Marian back from the Enchanted Forest. She KILLED Marian and took her form. She was behind it all and watching Regina suffer was worth every second in Marian’s body.
Due to this absolute shocker and his actual condition, Rumple started to flatline in front of Zelena. He awoke on a ventilator. Zelena relished in her success and the total one-up she had on everyone. Whatever Rumple was planning with his happy ending, she wanted in.
This wasn’t the first time Robin Hood had dealt with Zelena. He had come face-to-face with her knowingly in Oz! Rumple had a task for him that required him to go there. And, hey, he met up with Will Scarlett on the Yello Brick Road! Robin dressed up in a flying monkey’s uniform and found the potion he was looking for. Unforunately, Zelena showed up before he could run. He was able to escape with the potion in hand but lied to Will about it. Always thinking one step ahead, Will snatched it from Robin because he knew he was lying!
Back in New York, Robin waited for Rumple to check out of the hospital. Robin admitted that he felt like a stranger to Marian. Rumple asked if Marian was Robin’s happy ending. “I don’t know,” he replied. That’s when Rumple delivered some of his best advice yet: “If you know where it is and who it’s with, you should run to it, grasp it and never let it go.”
‘Once Upon A Time’ Recap: Choices, Choices Choices
When Robin returned to the Sherwood Forest from Oz, he gave Marian that four leaf clover necklace from the magical land. Robin and Marian pledged their love for one another. No matter what, I will never ship these two.
This mirrored Robin’s life in New York, too. When Marian — who was actually Zelena — confronted Robin about Regina’s number on his phone, she told him to make a choice. Shockingly, he chose Marian! Um, is Robin drunk? He even deleted Regina’s number from his phone. Oh, the shade.
Nine weeks later, Regina called Robin, but it was Zelena! Dun dun dun. Regina was furious that Rumple had known this whole time that Zelena wasn’t dead and was with Robin. Rumple didn’t care. He needed Regina to help with his master plan or Robin would die at the hands of her sister. Yikes.
Regina refused to turn Emma into a monster. Stay strong, girl! Rumple asked her one last time: Emma or Robin? Regina gave Rumple a sinister look and that was the end of the episode. Way to leave me hanging!
