Charli XCX Disses One Direction — Singer Says Their Music Is ‘Sh*t’?
Before 1D fans start boycotting the British singer, they should know how Charli XCX dissed One Direction. During an interview with Q Magazine, Charli XCX criticized Simon Cowell’s SYCO record label, which represents and manages 1D, aka the world’s number one boy band.
Regarding The X Factor‘s famed music and TV producer Charli XCX said, “I think Simon Cowell’s cool, I’d love to be in that position, but from the point of view of making music that’s not sh*t.”
Charli XCX has been in the music industry for years and knows that Simon and SYCO produces the music of his pop proteges, Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan. So much for subtly Charli XCX.
Charli XCX ‘Felt Stuck’ By Pop Music
And, the singer’s bold statements did’t just stop there. It seems like the “Doing It” singer isn’t just digging into 1D, but the pop industry as a whole.
“I couldn’t make any pop music because I hated pop music. I just didn’t want to think about it I wanted to be free,” reveals the singer who then added, “It was a case of getting it out of my system. I felt stuck.”
While Charli XCX may feel more free, she may want to be more careful with her words or suffer the wrath of 1D’s diehard fans.
As for her next move, Charli told Q Magazine that she would even start her own label just like Simon.
