‘Downton Abbey’ Recap — Cora & Bricker Caught In The Bedroom By Robert:
Mr. Bricker kept his flirtations to a minimum, that is, until it was time for bed. All of a sudden there was a knock on the door and as Cora was sitting on the bed in her nightdress, thinking it was her lady’s maid, she was greeted by Mr. Bricker himself. Although she told him to leave and seemed surprised, you would think she would’ve done more to prevent the scandalous scene — and to make matters worse, it all goes down as Lord Grantham waltzes back into the house. How sweet of him to surprise his wife.
Robert comes in and is clearly not pleased — especially when Mr. Bricker has the nerve to tell him off, which resulted in Robert punching him in the face — and rightfully so!
Robert Fights Mr. Bricker:
As the grown men roll about, Edith comes to the door to see what all the fuss is about and checks on her parents — and Cora tells her that she was just playing a “stupid game” with her husband and locked over a lamp. Somehow this didn’t seem odd or questionable? Come on, she may not have the best luck but Edith isn’t that dumb.
While Cora tries to blow it all over with a “Golly, what a night,” it is clear that Robert isn’t going to forget about this incident so easily.
Bye Miss Bunting!
While Cora coming close to having an affair was by far the most action-packed event of the episode, I was pleased to see Miss Bunting go on her merry way — and I’ve got to hand it to her, the girl just can’t take a hint. Although Tom broke things off with her he still went to say goodbye — and she wasn’t going to leave Downton without trying a few more times. Tom’s reaction has me thinking “Bye Felicia!” could easily be interchangeable with “Bye Miss Bunting!” — needless to say he really wasn’t all that sad to see her go. In fact, he practically put her in the car — if he had to throw her on his back and give her a piggyback to the station, there was no way she was missing that 4PM train. Bye!
Rose Meets A New Hottie:
It’s always exciting when a cute new love interest is in the picture! I was pleased to see Rose take an interest in an adorable Prince slash banker — is it just me or is he like a hotter Prince William? I hope Rose takes him up on his dinner invitation when she’s in London.
Lady Mary & Mable Lane:
Speaking of London, Lady Mary goes to eat with her backup suitor, (who is now love interest #1), Charles — and he surprises her by also inviting Mable Lane. Although I think nothing can compare to the goddess that is Lady Mary, Mable Lane’s sassy tude is on point — I see what initially drew in Tony Gillingham. Charles suggested that Mable take Tony back now that Mary just isn’t into him anymore — but she doesn’t seem to be having it. Ugh, I’m still totally team Tony, (although I think I’m facing a losing battle here).
Rosamund confides in her mama, the Dowager Countess, and tells her about Edith’s love child and they try to convince her to send her daughter away to school in France — but Edith has a different plan.
When the Dowager isn’t trying to help Edith out, she’s delivering hilarious one-liners and attempting to meddle in Isobel’s relationship with her affluent suitor — although over tea it is clear to both Dr. Clarkson and the Dowager that the pair actually makes a great couple.
