Ed Sheeran Admits Niall Horan Stole Ellie Goulding Away From Him?

It's an open secret that Ed Sheeran's 'Don't' about a cheating girlfriend is more than likely about Ellie Goulding's reported fling with Niall Horan, but Ed has never admitted it... until now? Ed Sheeran, 23, played his song "Don't" from his album x for the first time in April 2014 on SNL; ever since, he has demurred -- Britishly -- about the targets in his cutting song about a cheating girlfriend and a guy he had previously "never seen as a threat." Many have assumed that the song is about Ellie Goulding's reported fling with One Direction's Niall Horan, and it kiiiind of seems like Ed proved our assumptions correct in a new interview!

Ed Sheeran: Niall Horan The Guy Behind ‘Don’t’? New Interview Nearly Confirms

“It was a One Direction guy, right,” Howard Stern asked Ed on his radio show on September 8 about the guy behind “Don’t.”

“The papers says a lot of things. I have kept my mouth shut about a lot of things. I think if you add any fuel to any fire…” Ed trailed off, adding fuel to all fires.

Howard pressed him, asking Ed if he was still upset and if he wanted to beat the guy up.

“I didn’t really come out of that situation upset,” Ed said. “I was just pissed off. I just thought it was a bit disrespectful. […] I got over it as soon as the song was done and the song happened pretty soon after,” he said, admitting that he did confront the guy afterward. “It’s a difficult conversation to have… He was my mate, so I was just a bit like, ‘Um not cool,’ but…”

Ed Sheeran: Has He Been Wronged By More Than One Member Of One Direction?

“That was the guy in One Direction, right?” Howard pressed one last time. Again, Ed denied it, before telling Howard: “Well, it depends which one you’re talking about,” he laughed.

OK — a couple of things, here:

One, he just admitted that it was a guy in One Direction, unless when he’s saying “which one you’re talking about,” he means, like, a One Direction cover band.

Two, has another guy in One Direction wronged him in the past?! Zayn MalikLiam Payne and Louis Tomlinson are all coupled up; could Harry Styles the culprit? It’s hard to believe considering that the two are still total bros — Ed even called Harry his “anchor” in an interview with Fabulous magazine not too long ago — but who knows? We sure hope that the accused isn’t one of the boys currently in a long-term relationship!

HollywoodLifers, what do you think about Ed’s cryptic comments? Did he confirm everyone’s assumptions? Let us know!
