But wait, did I refer to Papa Tunde as the new big bad? What I meant to say was that Papa Tunde, with his ability to suck out vampires’ powers, was merely a pawn in Celeste’s (Shannon Kane) ultimate plot to claim New Orleans for herself. The final scene of the episode found her slitting P.T.’s throat, absorbing the powers of all the fallen supernatural creatures.
In other words, everybody’s screwed. Like, even more so than we already thought.
Power Struggles
Speaking of getting screwed, it looks like Klaus (Joseph Morgan) might not be retaining as many ‘loyal’ followers as he’d hoped. After a well-intentioned speech to his vampire brethren, meant to rally them for battle, a good chunk of them high-tailed it out of the compound — led, of course, by the now-freed Thierry (Callard Harris). How could someone in such an adorable little hat cause so much trouble?!
And once she’d been restored to her usual sassy self, Rebekah was read the riot act by Elijah (Daniel Gillies) for conspiring to overthrow Klaus. But rather than an apology, Elijah ended up getting an earful from his baby sis, who called him a hypocrite and stormed off into the Quarter.
Davina Intervention?
As expected, Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) continued taking Davina’s (Danielle Campbell) death to heart. He spent much of the hour drinking and moping… then drinking again, and not even Cami (Leah Pipes) could break through his devastation. She did, however, offer him a drink when he found himself near death after an encounter with Papa Tunde!
The only good news that came out of this whole episode was that there’s still a chance Davina can be resurrected — as if anyone thought we’d really seen the last of her.
Elijah & Hayley Fail To Keep Their Distance
Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and Elijah’s relationship also took an interesting turn this week. She essentially admitted she has feelings for him, but he told her they can’t spend time together out of respect for his brother.
But even after that ‘understanding,’ Elijah is clearly unable to stay away. That whole scene at the end, with Elijah standing by the candles looking up at Hayley on the balcony, was perfection. I know this sounds gross, but I can’t wait for her to pop Klaus’ baby out so she can bone his brother.
Yeah, I said it.
