Gabrielle Union & More React To Lee Thompson Young’s Death

Following the tragic suicide of Lee Thompson Young -- also known as 'The Famous Jett Jackson' -- many stars such as Francia Raisa, Gregg Sulkin and the cast of 'Rizzoli & Isles' have reacted on Twitter. Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life at only 29 years old on August 19. The Rizzoli & Isles star, who was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, is being mourned by many celebrities including some former co-stars. Lee Thompson Young’s Death — Celebrities React On Twitter

Lee, 29, was found dead in his home by his landlord, and his rep has since confirmed that he took his own life. Many celebrities — including his former co-stars Gabrielle Union and Donald Faison — have expressed their grief on Twitter.

Gabrielle: “I had the pleasure of working w/ #LeeThompsonYoung on Flash Forward & he was an extremely talented beautiful soul. My thoughts & prayers are with his loved ones #RIP”

Donald: “This breaks my heart. RIP Lee Thompson Young.”

Glee and 90210 star Grant Gustin: “RIP Lee Thompson Young. So so sad.”

Francia Raisa: “I grew up watching Jett Jackson. This is so sad! #RIPLeeThompsonYoung”

Gregg Sulkin: “What a shame. Lee Thompson young. So young. So sad.”

Rizzoli & Isles creator Janet Tomaro: “We are all without the words to truly express our collective grief and profound sadness at the loss of such a sweet, bright light.”

Disney Channel’s spokesperson released the following statement to HollywoodLife.com: “Nothing any of us can say will adequately express our sadness over Lee’s untimely passing — our thoughts are with his loved ones and the many fans of his work.”

TNT also released a statement, which said:

Everyone at Rizzoli & Isles is devastated by the news of the passing of Lee Thompson Young. We are beyond heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, gentle, good-hearted, intelligent man. He was truly a member of our family. Lee will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved him, both on and offscreen, for his positive energy, infectious smile and soulful grace. We send our deepest condolences and thoughts to his family, to his friends and, most especially, to his beloved mother.

Lee Thompson Young Dead From Suicide

Lee was found by his landlord at approximately 9:45 A.M on Aug. 19, and his death has been confirmed a suicide.

“It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning,” says long time manager Jonathan Baruch. “Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed.  We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends as this very difficult time.”

Lee Thompson Young Had A Successful Career In Film & Television

After starring in the Disney Channel’s The Famous Jett Jackson, Lee, who was born in Columbia, S.C., appeared in the 2004 movie Friday Night Lights, ABC’s FlashForward, Scrubs, and films such as Akelah and the Bee and The Hills Have Eyes 2. He most recently starred as detective Barry Ross on Rizzoli & Isles.
