“Child support is not supposed to be a back door way to get spousal support, but it definitely would change Patty’s lifestyle,” Beverly Hills-based attorney David Friedman of Friedman & Freidman Lawyers tells HollywoodLife.com.
“The money would be paid to the mother. It’s trusted she’d be using the amount for the child. The child is supposed to share in the lifestyle of the high earner parent, so she would have an upgrade and more income.”
Because Arnold’s wife has her own assets, he most likely won’t owe her as much money in child support. However, it’s almost impossible to estimate for just how much Patty is eligible.
“If Patty files for child support, they will have to hire a forensic accountant to figure out what Arnold’s monthly cash flow is, because of all his investments and real estate,” he says.
“Then, of course, he would have his team of attorneys and accountants and they would come up with a number, which would probably be less than what she came up with.”
Unfortunately, because this is a paternity case (versus a divorce), outside eyes will never see the file. Any negotiations — IF they even happen — will be in a sealed file.
We have to wonder if Patty will even seek support for her 14-year-old son with Arnold. After all, the former California governor has reportedly taken care of her and her family for years, perhaps their current agreement is enough for her.
