Stars Who Survived Car Crashes: Tiger Woods & More — Accidents happen and celebrities are not immune to bad luck while on the road. In fact, some stars have been in serious car crashes and lived to tell about it.

Golf star Tiger Woods famously survived a scary car crash in February 2021. After his SUV flipped down an embankment in Los Angeles, Tiger was left with traumatic injuries to his right leg, open fractures to both his tibia and fibula, a bruised rib cage, and lacerations to his lower front jaw. He was reportedly speeding as fast as 87 mph at the time.

However, Tiger ended up returning to the links for the 2022 Masters in Augustus, Georgia. Before the Masters, his only appearance in competitive golf since the crash was with son Charlie during the PNC Championship in Orlando in 2021. At the time, Tiger said he wouldn’t be able to play a full tour schedule after the accident. “I can play certain events here and there, but on a full-time level, no, that will never happen again.”

Scott Disick

Scott Disick — Scott Disick is used to flipping houses, but the Kardashian insider found himself upside down when he crashed his Lamborghini in Calabasas on Aug. 21, 2022. The star suffered only minor injuries but the crash left his car propped on its side. According to police reports, he did not seem ‘impaired’ at the time of the accident.

Padma Lakshmi

Padma Lakshmi — Padma Lakshmi was seriously injured in a car accident in Malibu, California when she was 14 years old. The accident resulted in a fractured right hip and a shattered right upper arm, which required surgery that left her with a seven-inch scar between her elbow and shoulder.

Mariska Hargitay

Mariska Hargitay — Tragedy struck ‘Law & Order: SVU’ star Mariska Hargitay when she was present for the car crash which killed her actress mother Jayne Mansfield, her boyfriend Sam Brody, and the driver in 1967. She was just 3 1/2 years old and still has a scar on her head from the accident.

Mariska would later say that her mom’s death left ‘a hole in my life that won’t ever be filled. I will never get over it. I will always be a girl who lost her mom.’

Kanye West

Kanye West — Kanye West, 45, was involved in a serious car crash years before he peaked at superstar status. His collision took place in Los Angeles on October 23, 2002, as Ye reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, Newsweek reported. Ye was driving after a long night in the studio as the accident reportedly took place around 3am. The rapper suffered several serious injuries including a shattered jaw and two broken legs. Two weeks later, Ye was back in the studio as he recorded his first single “Through the Wire.”

Sharon Stone

Sharon Stone — Sharon Stone, 64, has faced the threat of death numerous times, according to her memoir. When she was in her 30s the survived a scary car crash when her car hit black ice. Sharon was on her way to visit some friends at a country club near an icy lake when the incident took place, Vulture reports. The ‘Basic Instinct’ actress braced herself for the impact but luckily left without a scratch. The pole the car hit was also reportedly split in half and her car engine pushed up against the cassette player. A true survivor we must say!

Tracy Morgan

Tracy Morgan — Comedian and actor, Tracy Morgan, 53, survived a serious collision back in 2014. Tracy was inside of a limousine bus when he became involved in a multi-vehicle accident on the New Jersey Turnpike, PEOPLE reported. He was put into intensive care and spent months fighting for his life following the crash. He later visited the hospital after recovering and told the Today Show that he suffered “traumatic brain damage.”

Gloria Estefan

Gloria Estefan — Gloria Estefan, 64, is another celebrity that was able to survive a brutal car accident. Back in the 1990s, the singer survived a traumatic crash when her tour bus was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler. Gloria ended up having a broken back and said that her mouth tasted of “electricity” she said on an episode of ‘Red Table Talk: The Estefans‘. She was told by doctors that she would not be able to walk or have children again, but both of those were thankfully proven incorrect.

Matthew Broderick

Matthew Broderick — Matthew Broderick, 60, survived a crash that left two of the victims dead. The accident took place back in August of 1987, PEOPLE reported. Matthew and Jennifer Grey were driving in Ireland while on vacation from work when Matthew struck another vehicle head-on. Matthew was 25 years old at the time and reportedly very concerned with the victims at the time. A local official told the outlet at the time, “He kept saying ‘Did I hurt them? Did I hurt them?’” Matthew suffered cuts on his face and a broken leg.

Rachel Bilson

Rachel Bilson — Rachel Bilson, 40, was hanging with the wrong crowd during her teenage days and it led to a bad car accident. She told Pop Sugar in 2006, “I had a few years from the age of 14 till about 16 when I was hanging out with people I probably shouldn’t have been hanging out with, pretending to drink beer and acting cool. They were older than me, my brother’s friends, so I can blame him. Then one day, we all got into a car accident. It was a head-on collision and everyone ended up in hospital. One guy was paralysed and I was unconscious for a day or two. The accident changed me. It made me go in a different direction to the self-destructive route. It woke me up and stopped me going down that road.” Talk about some serious growing pains!
