Maddie and Caleb are not together anymore. She went Instagram official with a brand-new boyfriend named Gabe Burdullis in July 2023, spurring countless fans to ask her what happened with Caleb.
“Very sad you and Caleb are done – why?” one social media user asked. “Here I was wondering if you and Caleb broke up. The confirmation!” another added.
However, Maddie appears to be happier than ever with her new beau, as she captioned her Instagram post at the time, “Happy” with a red heart emoji.
It’s unclear when exactly Caleb and Maddie broke up, but fans started wondering about their relationship status at the end of 2022. Caleb starred in Maddie’s May 2022 music video for her song “One That Got Away,” but the duo weren’t seen in photos together at the end of that year. Since the former couple chose to keep their romance out of the public eye, they didn’t post pictures of each other frequently.

The reason for Maddie and Caleb’s breakup is still unknown. However, she more or less confirmed that she was on good terms with her ex-boyfriend during a radio interview in April 2023. She refrained from mentioning Caleb by name, though.
After the radio host asked her whether or not she was still dating Caleb, Maddie reportedly replied, “Oh my goodness, is this MTV Live? No, this [song] is not about that relationship. Again. I will always have a place in my heart … about that relationship. I will only look back fondly on that relationship. There is no bad blood there.”
The American Idol season 16 winner insisted that she had “nothing bad to say” and that “there are a lot of reasons for a lot of things.”
“You can’t just believe everything,” she continued. “People only post good parts on social media. People should know that by now. It’s such a comparison game on social media.”

Maddie and Caleb met in 2018 while competing on American Idol. When the show came down to the two of them as finalists, Caleb explained that he first met Maddie during “Hollywood Week” while announcing that they were in a relationship.
Throughout their nearly four-year romance, the former couple occasionally shared Instagram photos of each other. However, several pictures were taken down from their respective accounts.
