Jada Pinkett Smith dropped bombshell after bombshell in her recently released memoir, Worthy. And now, she’s welcoming Britney Spears to her club! In an October 24 Instagram post, the 52-year-old actress shared a fun throwback video of herself with Britney and gushed over Brit’s new book in the caption. According to PEOPLE (via a 2004 Entertainment Weekly report), the video appeared to be a skit played during tour dates in 2004, when Jada’s band Wicked Wisdom opened for Britney in the U.K. for several performances.
“Welcome to the ‘Bad Ass Women Memoir Club,'” Jada captioned the video on the day of The Woman in Me‘s release. “@britneyspears welcomed me to open for her on the Onyx tour with my band Wicked Wisdom with open arms. She was so sweet and supportive. Who knew we would be back on a different stage, sharing our journeys on the page. I can’t WAIT to read your book Britney and I’m sending you love on your pub day … congrats.”
In the clip, Jada literally materializes in an alleyway rocking a glittering tank top, capturing the attention of a fedora-wearing Britney. Intrigued, the pop star approaches Jada to ask, “who are you?” Jada reaches her arm out to magically open what appears to be a portal and asks, “you wanna join me?”
Jada’s sweet congratulatory post comes on the heels of her own memoir release on October 17. The book contained bombshell after bombshell, including the fact that she’d been separated from husband Will Smith since 2016, and how the infamous Oscars slap actually helped the stagnant marriage. In a stunning confession, she also claimed that Chris Rock had asked her out amid divorce rumors.
Ahead of Brit’s memoir, which drops today, excerpts were released revealing stunning details about her life, including that she had an abortion after becoming pregnant with ex Justin Timberlake, and that she drank alcohol with her mom Lynne Spears when she was in the eighth grade.
