The aftermath of Angelina Pivarnick’s wedding played out on the Nov. 19 premiere of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. The wedding ended with Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Deena Cortese and Jenni “JWoww” Farley in tears after Angelina slammed them for giving a “distasteful” bridesmaids speech. Two days later, she re-hashed the evening with her new husband, Chris Larangeira, and reiterated that she was “still hurt” by what was said.
“Even if it’s, like, a joke between us, I don’t think it should’ve been said in front of people that don’t know those jokes,” Angelina explained. “I thought it was a little f***ed up.” Meanwhile, with Snooki no longer on the show, viewers saw the other side from just JWoww and Deena’s perspective. The ladies explained that things had gotten worse for them since the wedding because audio of the speech leaked online, which led to them being bullied by many who heard it.
“Social media is the devil,” JWoww admitted. “They’re attacking my parenting and the type of karma I deserve. [They’re] saying I should get kicked on and spit on and, ‘I hope your daughter goes through what you put Angelina through.’ It’s really painful. I’m getting thousands, thousands of comments.” Deena got similar threats, as well. The ladies were also hurt by Angelina fueling the fire on social media by ‘liking’ comments against them and telling fans that she wanted to “redo” her wedding.
Meanwhile, the guys were caught in the middle. While they understood that it was Angelina’s big day and realized that her feelings were valid, they also knew that Snooki, JWoww and Deena didn’t mean anything malicious with their speech. JWoww and Deena were adamant that they “never want to be in the same room” with Angelina again. As for Angelina, she wasn’t ready to sit down with the girls either.
Angelina’s closest friend in the house, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, called her up to try and talk some sense into her. “It just looks bad that you went from like, ‘That’s funny’ and laughing to being mad,” he explained. Angelina insisted that she didn’t care “how it looked,” though — her feelings and her husband’s feelings were hurt.
As the weeks passed, nothing was resolved. With Pauly D and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro on the west coast, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino and Vinny Guadagnino decided to try and take it upon themselves to get the girls to talk and (hopefully) work things out. In February, they got together with Deena and JWoww to see if they’d be ready to mend fences, but both women still weren’t up for it.
So, when that didn’t work, Mike decided to pay Angelina a visit and try to work it from that end. “Take the high road,” he told her. “There’s only one alternative — that’s to move forward. If we don’t, it’s never going to get any better. Extend the olive branch. Send them a text.” Angelina was hesitant — “They don’t like me,” she insisted — but she agreed to write something up and send it to the girls.
Rather than sending something to JWoww and Deena personally, though, Angelina decided to post her apology on social media, which pissed the ladies off even more. JWoww sent Angelina a long text in response, and this got Angelina fired up once again. The guys were officially at a loss with how to make things right, and their efforts were halted when the coronavirus hit in March and quarantine began.
Finally, all four guys got on video chat with Angelina to once again try and get her to bury the hatchet. “It seems like we have a lot to figure out but you have to be wiling to say let’s move forward,” Mike explained. “We just have to do the next right thing.” However, Angelina wasn’t convinced. “When are THEY going do the next right thing!?” she wondered. “When are they going to come to me and say, ‘I f***ed up, I’m sorry.’ I want people to understand that my feelings are valid and you can’t tell me how to feel.”
By summer, the issues still weren’t resolved. “It was a rough couple of months,” Deena said. “I can’t come back from that and I don’t want to put myself in that situation again.” Deena and JWoww both agreed that if the cast got a house together for a vacation, they didn’t want to go if Angelina was going to be there, too. In August, Mike and Vinny met up with Angelina again to see if she’d be ready to make the first move toward getting together for a sit down with Jenni and Deena.
“Just because I go back at them on social media because they come at me doesn’t mean I’m not willing to sit down with them,” Angelina revealed. “I’ve been willing to sit down with them.” Mike’s wife, Lauren Sorrentino, explained to Angelina that she had to “cease fire” on social media if she really wanted to work things out. By the end of the conversation, Angelina agreed to “come and sit at the table.” There’s still a lot of work to be done, though, as Mike will have to convince Deena and Jenni to do the same. We’ll see how that plays out on the next episode of Jersey Shore, which airs Thursdays at 8:00 p.m on MTV.
