‘Shadowhunters’ Recap: Clary & Jace Finally Come Face To Face With Valentine

It finally happened! Jace and Clary came face to face with Valentine himself on 'Shadowhunters', and their meeting was totally unexpected! On top of that, they learned something pretty shocking about their relationship. Check out our full recap here! Guys, this is crazy! We've been waiting all season for Jace and Clary to officially meet Valentine on Shadowhunters, but what happened on Mar. 22 was even crazier than we could have dreamed. And what they learn from the ultimate bad guy is going to change everything. Here's our full recap of the insane episode.

Okay, we’re just going to come out and say it because we can’t control ourselves anymore – Jace and Clary are related! You heard correctly, when Clary and Jace finally come face to face with Valentine, they find out they’re actually brother and sister! But we’re getting ahead of ourselves.

First things first, Clary and Jace find Michael Wayland, the father Jace believed to have died 10 years ago. He seems like a super nice guy, and vows to help Clary, insisting that Valentine will always love her mom, so he won’t hurt her. However, he also warns Jace that falling in love with Clary will only hinder him. Clary and Jace are head over heels and finally have a full on makeout session after discussing the other dimension where they dated like normal teenagers, so cute! (At least until we found out the sibling thing.)

Meanwhile, Alec just wants to save Izzy after Lydia turns her in to the Clave for helping Jace and Clary steal the cup. Alec gets Magnus to be her defense attorney, and Magnus asks for his bow in return. While on the stand, Izzy gives an inspiring speech about not turning on each other, and it’s so beautiful that it changes Lydia’s mind and she drops the charges! Unfortunately, the Inquisitor in charge of the case doesn’t care, and insists she’ll sentence her unless they get the cup in 24 hours.

Luckily, Clary and Jace have a plan. Michael tells them what he remembers hearing from Valentine – that they plan to move to an abandoned hospital called Renwick’s near the Institute. Clary decides to bust in there and use the cup to command all of the demons to kill Valentine. However, when they put the plan into action, the cup doesn’t work, and Michael asks to try. That’s when he reveals that he’s been Valentine all along! What WHAT?! Not only that, he tells Jace that he’s his son, and tries to convince them both to join him. Of course they refuse, but he gets away.

While that was some mind-blowing stuff and obviously Clary and Jace being siblings is SO WEIRD, some good things did happen. They saved Jocelyn, they saved Izzy, Alec got to keep his bow, and now Simon has a shot to be with Clary again!
