Fans automatically assumed Harry Styles was throwing major shade at his ex, Taylor Swift, when he tweeted a lyric from her hit song, ’22,’ on his 22nd birthday. So was he? Well, HollywoodLife.com has the EXCLUSIVE answer! Keep reading.
Taylor Swift‘s fans came down hard on Harry Styles after he tweeted a line from her song, “22,” to celebrate his 22nd birthday on Feb. 1. Clearly, they’re still bitter over the breakup. But was Harry really throwing shade at his ex, as some fans have suggested? Here’s what we know.
“Friends and family have been joking with him about getting older and it was Louis [Tomlinson] actually who brought up the reference and Harry thought it was hilarious and thought that he would have some fun with it. So he did the tweet. His intentions were in no way to get Taylor, Calvin [Harris] or anyone else upset! He just thought it was hysterical,” a source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
It seems like Harry’s tweet was all in good fun. But considering Harry and Taylor’s relationship didn’t end in the most positive way, we were definitely surprised to see him quote one of her lyrics. As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Harry and Taylor dated at the end of 2012, but broke up right after the New Year when a romantic vacation went horribly wrong. Recently, Harry’s been linked to Kendall Jenner, 20, and Taylor has been dating Calvin Harris for quite some time. They may have moved on since their epic split in 2013, but it doesn’t seem like their fans have done the same. Even something like one quoting the other’s lyrics gets their fans fired up! At least Harry meant not harm by it.
