The Season 9 contestants react to the shift in the judging panel but remain sure the show will go on!
Next season’s judging panel for American Idol may be up in the air, with Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres, and Kara DioGuardi out, rumored to be replaced by names including Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, and Jessica Simpson, but last season’s contestants feel like the show will go on no matter what! Former contestant Lee DeWyze told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY, “I don’t think anyone is going to ruin the show, the show is going to be successful as long as people are doing there own thing and not trying to copy anyone else, they’ll be fine.” And everyone else seems to agree!
Crystal Bowersox and her ‘musical crush’ Lee DeWyze are in the finale on American Idol — but why would these two pals have a beef?
You called it, America! You’ve long predicted a Crystal Bowersox/Lee DeWyze showdown in the season finale, and last night you were proved right when sexy Casey James got the boot. But these two BFFs — who seemed genuinely stoked that they’d be facing off against one another — ever dislike the other?
Crystal’s performance during Inspirational Week was so touching that it even gave Blake goosebumps!
Hot damn you’re good, Crystal Bowersox. SO good, in fact, that HollywoodLife.com’s own personal Idol judge, Blake Lewis, was ready to name you the newest ‘American Idol’ after watching you perform Curtis Mayfield’s “People Get Ready” April 20 during Inspirational Week. “I got goosebumps,” the 28-year-old Season 6 runner-up tells us. “With a performance like that, I was just waiting for [Ryan] Seacrest to come up and say: ‘THIS is your American Idol.’”
Who else did our judge dig last night? Take it away, Blake!
Michael Lynche was miraculously saved by the ‘American Idol’ judges last week, but his best pal says “he’s a fighter” and can’t wait to prove himself tonight!
With his powerful vocals and professional performing skills, it was a complete surprise the American Idol judges had to implement their one season save on ‘Big’ Michael Lynche April 6. And no one could have been more shocked than Mike himself, his best friend tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively.
“I think [getting the lowest amount of votes] was a little humbling for him,” Ming — Mike’s long-term bestie and musical collaborator — explained.
Do you agree with HollywoodLife.com’s own Idol judge?
Blake Lewis knows talent when he sees it – and the former American Idol Season 6 runner-up isn’t at all impressed with Season 9 contender Tim Urban.
“How did this guy get picked to stay on the show when people like Lilly Scott have to go home?!” the incredulous 28-year-old wonders on his weekly HollywoodLife.com American Idol blog.
Funny, Blake, we were thinking the exact same thing! Check out the rest of Blake’s highlights from the March 16 episode of Idol here!
Our very own personal American Idol judge agrees with us – Big Mike totally killed it when the Top 14 boys performed last night!
Highlight One – I’m gonna start from the top of the show. The night opened with [Ryan] Seacrest trying to be super dramatic. He went down the line of guys at the beginning, and right before he said, “This is American Idol”. I laughed out loud at how cheesy he was. It made me smile.
Did most of the top 12 boys choke, or are our expectations just too high?
After suffering through disappointing performances from the top 12 girls on American Idol, we finally got a chance to watch the guys take the stage last night, and the results were… slightly less disappointing. Though there were a few standout performances (big ups to Casey James and Joe Muñoz) we couldn’t help but long for the boys of season eight: Where were the Adam Lamberts? The Kris Allens? We’d even settle for another Matt Giraud! Todrick Hall, 24, set the tone for the evening by butchering Kelly Clarkson‘s “Since U Been Gone” with an awkward R&B rendition that just didn’t work. Even 20-year-old Tyler Grady (who we love) put on a lackluster performance of The Guess Who‘s “American Woman.” The judges agreed his ’70s rocker vibe is too cliché and it feels forced. Tyler told Ryan Seacrest he may have to take a trip to the mall to change his image — and we can’t wait to see to see what he comes up with! Read more & tell us what YOU thought!
The top 24 has finally been revealed! Drop us a comment and let us know who you want to win this season.
Take a good hard look at that photo. One of those 24 people will be the next American Idol — isn’t that crazy? After weeks of watching all those painstaking auditions, the semifinalists have finally been chosen and the first live performance is coming up on Tuesday, Feb. 23. But before you get those texting fingers ready, take a look at the 12 guys and 12 girls you’ll be able to vote for. We’ve gone ahead and put pink stars next to the frontrunners, but let us know who YOU’ll be rooting for when the live shows start next week.
