The former ‘American Idol’ judge is now a mom! After years of heartbreak and failed pregnancy attempts, Kara and her husband Mike McCuddy finally welcomed a son via a surrogate on Jan. 31 — congrats!
Kara DioGuardi and her husband Mike McCuddy are now proud parents! After years of pregnancy struggles, including failed IVF treatments and miscarriages, the couple finally welcomed their first child, a son named Greyson James Carroll McCuddy.
The former ‘American Idol’ judge has announced that her first child will be welcomed through gestational surrogacy in the next few weeks! What great news!
Kara DioGuardi may not be involved with American Idol anymore, but the former judge made an exciting announcement of her own on the day of the show’s 12th season premiere! Kara has confirmed on Jan. 16 that she and husband Mike McCuddy are expecting a baby boy through a gestational surrogate within the next few weeks!
Kara tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively that sometimes she just needs a break from music, but she also offers up advice for Simon and other reality show judges!
Kara DioGuardi judged American Idol alongside Simon Cowell for seasons eight and nine, but when they parted ways, it didn’t mean the end of their relationship. Kara, who’s now the head judge of Bravo’s Platinum Hit, still makes time to support Simon on his new show, The X Factor. She tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively that she will be tuning in to watch the season premiere of The X Factor on Sept. 21, but doesn’t plan to watch the show “religiously” given her own hectic career.
The former ‘American Idol’ judge reveals in a heartbreaking new book that she suffered sex abuse as an 11-year-old and was harrassed even as her songwriting career took off.
Kara DioGuardi tells some dark secrets in her new book A Helluva High Note, describing the horror of being molested as a young girl — and facing date-rape as an adult.
It was confirmed today that J. Lo, Steven and Randy Jackson would make up the judging panel on Idol, but I don’t think this motley crew is going to gel! Do you?
What oh what will become of my beloved American Idol now that Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi have been replaced by Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler? I think I have an idea — and the outcome is NOT going to be pretty. Read more & VOTE!
A new report says that Steven Tyler is joining Jennifer Lopez as the newest judge on American Idol – and I’m bummed. Elton John would have been so much better!
Dim the lights, because you’re about to meet your next American Idol…judge. Rather anticlimactic, no? This is exactly how I felt upon learning that Steven Tyler had finally inked a deal to become one of Idol‘s replacement judges. Read more & VOTE!
Sure, Steven has been in the industry forever, but his presence is NOT going to boost ratings, Fox!
When Steven Tyler confirmed he was to be the newest judge on American Idol at a recent concert, I was beyond disappointed. Beyond his cool cat persona, what can he really offer America? Don’t get me wrong, I like his band, Aerosmith. However, I don’t find Steven appealing in the slightest, especially when there are so many better options.Read more

Do YOU want a hot bikini body like Kara’s? Here’s your chance!
Ever since Kara DioGuardi strutted her stuff in a two piece on American Idol last season (take that, Bikini Girl!), we’ve been minorly obsessed with getting the 39-year-old judge’s sexy bod. Luckily for us, we ran into the always gracious Kara at APCH’s forth annual Stars & Strikes celebrity bowling and poker tournament in Los Angeles March 10, and she dished on how to achieve her fabulous figure.
“What really helped me get over any eating issues I had in the past was to figure out what I love to do in life and am passionate about and get focused on that, instead of focusing on what I look like, the calories I was eating — all of that nonsense,” Kara told HollywoodLife.com exclusively.
Do you think Kara focuses too much on Casey’s good looks and not enough on his talent?
Kara DioGuardi raved so much about American Idol contestant Casey James‘ sexy blond hair and piercing blue eyes she has the entire world calling her a cougar on the prowl. But the 39-year-old (married!) judge told HollywoodLife.com she wants to set the record straight once and for all — she definitely thinks there’s more to Casey than just a pretty face.
“My real opinion is I don’t want to keep stressing how good looking [Casey] is because he is also talented,” Kara told us exclusively.
Our very own personal American Idol judge agrees with us – Big Mike totally killed it when the Top 14 boys performed last night!
Highlight One – I’m gonna start from the top of the show. The night opened with [Ryan] Seacrest trying to be super dramatic. He went down the line of guys at the beginning, and right before he said, “This is American Idol”. I laughed out loud at how cheesy he was. It made me smile.
Kara, but it seems like you’re totally trying to fill Paula’s stilettos this season. We love you as you are – just be yourself!
Have you noticed some eerie resemblances between Kara DioGuardi and recently departed judge Paula Abdul on American Idol this season? We have!
For starters, despite a rocky relationship with the cantankerous Simon Cowell last year, Kara, 39, seems to be Simon’s new bestie! The two – who sit next to one another now that Ellen DeGeneres switched seats – jostle each other, joke around and flirt like nobody’s business.
A new report reveals that anyone in the Idol top 5 is guaranteed big bucks!
Regardless of how we feel about this season’s American Idol finalists, five of them are guaranteed to walk away from the competition with pretty hefty wallets, according to a new report from The New York Times. Citing a contract signed during last season’s competition and filed in the state court of Los Angeles, the Times reports that last season’s winner, Kris Allen, earned $650,000 from his time on Idol. And sources close to Idol say that no previous winner has earned less than $1 million within a year of winning, after tallying performance fees and royalties from merchandise sold during the American Idol summer tours. And the rest of the top five Idol finalists don’t do too badly, either. The Times says this season’s top five are expected to earn about $100,000 from their time on the show, and up to four times that much if the show offers them a record deal. As a consolation prize, everyone else in the top 12 is guaranteed at least several thousand dollars. Read more
Did most of the top 12 boys choke, or are our expectations just too high?
After suffering through disappointing performances from the top 12 girls on American Idol, we finally got a chance to watch the guys take the stage last night, and the results were… slightly less disappointing. Though there were a few standout performances (big ups to Casey James and Joe Muñoz) we couldn’t help but long for the boys of season eight: Where were the Adam Lamberts? The Kris Allens? We’d even settle for another Matt Giraud! Todrick Hall, 24, set the tone for the evening by butchering Kelly Clarkson‘s “Since U Been Gone” with an awkward R&B rendition that just didn’t work. Even 20-year-old Tyler Grady (who we love) put on a lackluster performance of The Guess Who‘s “American Woman.” The judges agreed his ’70s rocker vibe is too cliché and it feels forced. Tyler told Ryan Seacrest he may have to take a trip to the mall to change his image — and we can’t wait to see to see what he comes up with! Read more & tell us what YOU thought!
Season 9 contestant Andrew Garcia should take home American Idol’s top prize because he has it all — unique looks, a super emotional story, charm and, most importantly, mad talent.
Andrew Garcia, the laid back, hat wearing, Buddy Holly glasses-sporting Southern California native, had me at hello this season on American Idol… Read more
